Hi Buellers, Im soon to own an 07 model XB9sx but I have 'Q' . When I was in the store checking out the xb models - I asked the guy if these were 07 models - he replied yes - although - they clearly had 06 date on the checked tested label ( on the forks ) anyway I wonder how you can actually tell an 07 model from an 06 ? Its just when I get mine soon - its £500 more than an 06, so I want to know that Im def getting an 07 for my money Anybody no the minor differences ? The thing is - I also have to have an 06 plate as the 07 plate doesn' come out until end of march which is a bit annoying but that doesn't bother me as much. |

The tenth character in the VIN number should be a 7 if it's an 07. Also, on an 07 the inner airbox cover should have 4 vertical cutouts on the left side. |

Correct Eboos. I got my 07' bolt in August so you can't go by the dates on the label. |

Yeah go by the VIN digit, come to think of it I have never owned a bike that was actually manufactured in it's "model year"

The most obvious visual difference is... the '07s don't have the 'American Motorcycle' sticker beneath the Buell logo on the airbox cover. The logo also has some stylized lines going through it now. |

Also, most of the color options available to '07 models weren't available to '06 models and vice versa. Sam |

so are there any pics out there to compare etc, Its just that when my xb9sx gets delivered soon - I hope the dealer hasn't made an etc £500 ( $983 ) by telling me Im getting an 07 when its actually an an 06 from the warehouse that hasn't been sold yet. I remember enquiring about an 06 with delivery mileage which was almost £700 pounds cheaper but they didn't have the color i wanted ( kick ash ) so they said they can do an 07 model instead for retail price. It suddenly occurred to me " how would I even tell the difference ?" I read that the 07 had pirelli tyres as opposed to dunlop & that the seat was cut differently and that 07 models are tested between july 06 & august 07 - so anything after july 06 should be " officially " an 07 model |

All XB9SX's had Pirelli Scorpion Sync tires. If you could save some pretty good money, I would just go with the 06 in whatever color they had. There are only 2 parts that are kick ash (air box cover and the fly screen). |

There's also a UK Buell forum. Maybe there's some local folks that can lend you a hand: http://www.bike-pix.com/forum/index.php?sid=452aa8 7cc8294ba2d7bd8df20bc9270f |

its best to go by the VIN number as Eboos suggested. the 10th number should be a 7, if its a 6 then you have an 06 model. up to you what you do if the dealer says its an 07 and the VIN says its an 06. me i would ask for a good cash discount, or refuse the bike as its not what you asked for. i actually purchased mine in october last year. but didnt get it until november the owners manual has a page which tells you what all the letters/numbers mean. at least the uk manual does so i assume the us manual will (Message edited by mtch on January 24, 2007) (Message edited by mtch on January 24, 2007) |
