I am looking for the rearsets and the front fender. I thought the rearset was Rizoma but after looking closer I don't think so.

Yeah, you can get that fender from Hillbilly. There was a string about that last month some time I think. It is pretty sharp, right?

What's the benefit rearsets? Is it just to keep your feet in a better position when racing?

The header you can get at Trojan. I dont think it's any of those rearsets mentioned - there are two gold pivots in the picture stacked vertically. I haven't found that anywhere. As far as finding the fender on Hillbilly Motors I find that site extremely difficult to use and understand.

That bike is a revelation.

Buell, IMO, has always just missed the styling target. I enjoy the lines on most models, but the detailing and color choices are... off.

This blue bikes nails it and is the closest embodiement yet of the dearly departed S1. Lose the "13" and the "Goodyear' and it approaches art.

Congrats to whomever is responsible.

I also note the interesting air ram on the bike at the rear

One thing that this blue XB does very successfully is draw the eye to the motor. For reasons that continually escape me, Buell usually "hides" the big V-Twin by coating it in dark, dull colors. Look again a a black Ulysses; as much as I love this bike it is as dowdy-looking as an aged librarian. The motor is the soul, the essence of a motorcycle; it should be celebrated. This bike does that by offering proper eye-candy that leads to the Big Twin.

Another excellent thing about this execution is that it moves the bike further into the "unique" category. It would be very difficult to achieve this same bulldog-like appearance with any other motorcycle.

the seat cowl, the muffler spoiler with the front piece painted to match, and the rear frame painted to match...all look so much better than stock...

but the white bike with the right side color matching scoop (i would buy one for mine) is great

Reg...you are right about not being able to copy this look with other bikes.

i think the customized lightnings are a "muscle bike" instead of a sport bike...like the difference between muscle cars and tuners.

...9r

I agree. That highlights, IMO again, the fundamental flaw in Buell's marketing.

"Muscle car" is an uniquely American car niche. one that the 300C, Magnum, and Mustang have successfully mined. Buell could have established a stronger market presence had they continued what they started with the S1... not that the whole line should follow suit, but there should be that one motorcycle that emphatically says, "We don't care how they do it in Japan." Instead, Buell has insisted upon saying, "This is our version of a Japanese sportbike." Yes, they'll deny this, but all you need do is look at the histroy of their marketing and the subliminal message (intended or not)reads, "We think we can do a better job of building a Japanese sportbike." What they should be saying is<...

We build THE American Muscle Bike

Interestingly, the best versions of the XB... and this blue one is a prime example..., as modified by owners, all take the bike back to the "muscle" genre.

When, do you suppose, Buell will start listening to its customers?

I can't wait until we have lunch . . (note- you're buying)

: )

How killer would that bike be in that pea green they did the IMS "racing" S-1 in a couple years ago?

... and another thing (I gotta leave on a trip)

When a product... any product... establishes itself in and then captures a niche, price becomes secondary. The issue for years has been Buell's high price against the competion; positioned so as to not have any competition and the price can't be compared.(This, of course presuppoes that the product itself is competent and unique)

Sound too simple? Effective ideas usually are quite simple.

That is one nice looking bike! I still like the old swingarm design better than the new bulky one. Lots of aftermarket on that bike. I can't wait to spend wads of cash on my 04XB12S.

i'm not sure about the rearsets... but there is definitely Rizoma goodies on that bike, rear pulley + front pulley cover. the front fender is from Laque & Deco in France. i tried contacting them but a while ago but no response.

i've been in love with that bike ever since first seeing it too. i went nuts back in Oct or so looking for the creator. here's a link to one of the threads about that bike. there is another floating around about the headers on it...

http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/show .cgi?tpc=32777&post=764760#POST764760

i think that blue #13 bike may have been customized by http://www.hd-osnabrueck.de/cb_buell_martini.html or http://www.hd-bielefeld.de/cb_buell_stp.html but i don't know, i can't find pics. sweet rides those guys are designing though.

also a few more pics of that bike from other angles here:

I know those bikes..

The rearset comes from BKG, the white right airscoop comes from me (and is still available).

It's the same one as in the topic 'what's the scoop?'

Thanks to all for the input. Anyone have a url for BKG? Can't seem to find them. I am shamelessly looking to copy this bike except for the color. Court, would you have a picture of that pea green S1 you mentioned?

give Goetz-Motorsport a call.............these are the guys who now call the shots with regards to selling parts in the name of the world famous Hillbilly-Motors......BKG only distribute via them..........the pipes you can get from HSA in Germany........http://www.gd-motobikeparts.de/ makes the front fender................

tiger

PS........just noted..............one types Hillbilly-Motors without HTML code and the link is produced automatically...........there should be limits to how much endorsement is given to distributors in particular when they let you wait for months until you get your parts..............nevr mind.

When, do you suppose, Buell will start listening to its customers?

When they build a real honest-to-goodness SPORT tourer (think back to the S2-T and S3-T), perhaps...

Awww, come on, someone had to say it!

hi..............I have not bin yet, but I will make an effort to see ya there. Sorry but I could not make it for our autumn ride...............just been to busy workwise.............spring is hopefully not being delayed to much by the screwed up weather.................is this not closed during the WE?..........gather it is similar to the Whisper valley.....but here the road is unfourtunately poorly maintained and you take quite a few heavy impacts when going for it. The Sauertal is brilliant tarmac, but the corners are so tight that it gets a bit Micky Mouse.......I still like it. The completely screwed up the top half of the Schotten/Gedern track.......I used to love this...............thsi is Germany for you completly over regulated

Got to link up in spring.

See ya

Christoph

Greetings
