I am looking for a longer (3/4) length jacket for the cooler days . . .Below 60. I already have a leather jacket, and am looking for a waterproof textile jacket, which is warm. The only one I have found which appeals to me and looks functional is the Joe Rocket Ballistic 6.0. Does anyone have experience with this jacket? Any info would be appreciated. J |

I have the Ballistic 4.0. Not sure how it compares with the 6.0, but I am quite pleased with the fit and feel of the jacket. I have about 4k miles on it, I ride for about 8-9 months of the year here in CT. I never thought it was too cold, but in the heat & humidity of the New England summer, I thought it was too hot, even with the liner zipped out and the vent openings unzipped. I haven't crashed with it, so I have no point of reference for the padding. Otherwise, It has worn very well - no rips or snags. The only problem that I know others have had is that the Joe Rocket zippers are a little delicate. I've had no problems with mine, but I've been pretty careful with them. Hope maybe this helps. |

Not speaking from experience about Joe Rocket products but from what I hear they are one of the "known" brands to be demolished in a wreck. I personally would steer clear of their products as I have heard to many complaints about them. My deciding factor if I would be purchasing one would be to look at the tag inside the jacket. Look and see where it is made. If it says China I would steer clear. Just my .02 worth. HTH |

I recently destroyed my Ballistic (old, not sure which model) in a 70mph highside. I ended up with an insignificant road rash on my arm where the material wore through. There were a couple of holes in the back but not a mark on me. so I would say it did its job. I expect the later fabrics may be tougher. I wore this jacket most of the time in preference over a JR Phoenix and an Alpinstars Stunt air mesh jacket but I was riding mostly early in the morning or at night. The ventilation wasn't great but I found it adequate even in hot weather as long as I was able to keep moving. The 6.0 has more ventilation openings but I was told by a salesman yesterday that the ventilation doesn't work too well because the air has to pass through the waterproof membrane in the shell. Mine was warm in 50 degrees or cooler weather. It had a polar fleece liner which I still wear as a sweater/jacket off the bike. I was ready to replace the ballistic with another one but now am looking elsewhere, either Alpinstar or Ikon, due to the venting problem. Anyone have any suggestions out there? |

I "had" a joe rocket ballistic. I had my front end wash out at 50 mph. I wore right through the right elbow, forearm, and the only think that saved my wrist was my leather glove. I then went back to leather. |
