Dynod at Turbo Tune in Greensboro NC yesterday on a dynojet 81/72 to the wheels i dont know how to post pics on here or id post the graph (help please?) About two years ago I dynod at Cox HD in Asheboro and made a good amount more, engine wearing out or just the part about it being a different dyno and different air temps/humidity? the Cox dyno was 85/92, so yeah, its a big drop 99 s3, FI, vance and hines exhaust, buell race intake. |

81/72 from 85/92. Which are HP and which are torque and at what RPM? What gear was used for each run? Rear tire inflation pressure? Operator sitting on bike, bike tied down, engine hot, transmission hot? See the "Help/Instructions" link below and follow it to "Formatting" then "Images" to end up at ... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/cgibin/discus/disc us.cgi?pg=formatting#images Also see the instructions on atop the "Cool Buell Pics" page. If all fails, PM me and I'll help you get going with the pic uploading. |

im searching for the first dyno chart, it was a while back. but yesterdays 81.82hp - looks like its peaking 6800 rpm. 70.15 (oops, originally said 72, sorry) is hard to read, but looking like it could be anywhere from 4500-5500 rpm peak, that whole range is right at about the same place. ok, the 85/92 dyno was done by the HD dealer and they did the throttle, that was a while back and havent found the sheet yet, cant give too much info on it, sorry. yesterday was done by me, not 100% on the tire pressure, its low (dragrace this bike), 4th gear, bike had a while to warm up and it looks like it likes to run hot. each run got better and better and little time between cool down. had one fan on it. bike was tied down. humidity 44% and it was right at 70F when we were dynoing Now one thing i noticed about my dyno compared to the car ones (the ones I saw anyway) was theres said "SAE" and mine says "STD" STD 1.03 i fully understand dynos can be.....configured differently, and that they will all be different, and that temps/humidity plays a big role. but just want to know your opinions on these things. pics tomorrow......hopefully. sorry, got a full day at work and leaving early to go to the carolina panthers game. |

Low tire pressure would significantly hurt dyno numbers as would having the rear of the bike wheel tied down real snug. A 4th gear pull will lose a few HP compared to a 5th gear pull. The difference between STD and SAE corrected results with a 1.03 CF shouldn't be too significant. |

what about tq, would tq drop with it being in a higher gear? |

No, like HP, the Torque measured in 5th gear would be higher than that measured in 4th gear. |

how does that work exactly? |

5th gear is direct drive thru the tranny. Any other gear will have some parasitic energy losses due to the friction of gear teeth engagement, shaft bearings, etc. |

I dynoed my bike at 3 different shops with the same mods. All were Dynojets. There was a 7hp spread among them. Unfortunately the one at my shop reads on the low side (=less bragging rights). |

Interesting. Ever try to figure out why the big discrepancy? |

They say that just like 2 of the same motors they're all a little different. We just had ours completely recalibrated and updated...the numbers didn't change noticeably. |
