The Jim's version, like the old OEM version... small thin donut, not big honkin' tapered anular design of new OEM gasket. Get your system mounted and start incrementally snugging it paying attention to not put ANY of the mounting points in any kind of a bind. If any mounts are installed a bind, you will soon suffer broken mounts. Take your times, don't overtorque the header nuts, retorque header nuts after your first ride. Don't start bike near small children, it will make them cry. |

Thanks Blake I will give the JIms gaskets a try. I always let my exhausts find their own comfort zone before gradual tightening. Buell isolated exhaust mounting never made sence to me so I mount my exhausts SOLID to the engine and have had no cracking problems. |

Flapjack, If you try that SOLID mount setup you refered to, on a Force pipe you can rest assured that it will crack in more places than you can imagine and fast. Also if your mount is in any kind of a bind however slight it may seem, it will break exhaust studs faster than you care to replace them. Blake is correct about the gaskets and you should follow his directions on tightening the nuts as well. I will add that these gaskets come in bags of ten and that is the way you should by them as you will be replacing them pretty often. I've got a 97 M2 that has a very early Force off my 98 S1W that I have repaired and installed on the M2, it has never given any trouble since. But my 98 S1W is a constant battle. I usually replace the gaskets on it every 2500 miles. I have had several Force pipes that have cracked and many broken mounts both front and rear, and head studs as well, so I speak from experience. Force pipes work well but require a little extra care, well worth the trouble IMHO. Kent |
