"Shouldn't we be asking God?"

I did. From the email I received (see above), He maybe working something out up North. Did I ever tell you that Heaven is in the Northern part of the Universe? Remind me to tell you sometime.

No offense to Crevier but didn't McWilliams finish consistently better per race when Warr's XBRR was actually in a race and finished a race??? Putting the two riders aside, it looked to me that McWilliams had the better of the two bikes. Perhaps, that was because Warr's had some factory guys wrenching.

LOL

You are correct. I don't believe that the Deeley team had as much "factory" involvement. However, the team that Picotte put together did seem very competent.

I am pretty sure it was the rider. Not just a whole different level of talent but also able to learn faster and provide better feedback to the team. No disrespect to Steve but Jeremy was stepping down from the biggest of big leagues to a support class for a minor league.

Matt,

I think the effect many are hoping to generate is one of convincing the powers that be, the folks in a command position with piles of money, that they should darn well better get on the ball and help seriously put Buell out there into AMA FX racing as a full factory effort. Folks of course are free to support whomever they wish. I'd sure like to see Walt out there in a race or three this year. Go Walt! : D

Please note my closing statement...

Before you commence, please let me first confirm that "Buell Racing" is the proper payee designation.

I've not heard back on that yet. Will bump that effort up another notch.

Speaking of FX racing I see Larry Pegram will be running a Ducati North America (not Ducati Corse) supported 749R this year. The liquid cooled 4v desmo will be allowed 850cc displacement.

Larry is a good rider, it should make for an interesting effort.

So...I guess this thread is officially dead. It is truly a shame. Buell builds a bike to Formula Extreme rules, half-heartedly participates in it's first season and then abandons ship? Someone please tell me I'm wrong. This stinks!

This thread is not dead, just moving in real world as opposed to internet time.

You Adrian (AEHolton),

I'm happy to say, that you're wrong on all counts amigo. Never ever was Buell's participation "half-hearted". It was limited in scope, but very much hugely enthusiastic. Kinda like when you go to the amusement park but only have enough coin for a few rides. You are still very much engaged whole-heartedly on the rides you choose in consideration of your budgetary constraints, yes? : D

If you like you may start sending me checks made out to "Buell Racing"; I'll put 'em in an envelope for presentation to the good folks at Buell Racing. If for some reason they are not receptive to the idea, I'll tear 'em all up and have a little fire with them. : )

A short letter expressing your/our enthusiasm for a Buell factory AMA Formula Xtreme effort would be great too, with or without a check.

I know one thing. I won't be buying any oil for my Buell motorcycle other than Syn3. Syn3 was a sponsor of the 2006 Buell FX effort. That means a lot to me.

Heck, I may apply for a Harley-Davidson Visa card too. Same reason.

Not sure how I can support H-D Financial Services. I'm not one to finance the purchase of a motorcycle. If anyone knows any other ways to support them, please let me know. : )

"What does that mean? Please explain."

I think it means, that everyone has come to the realization that unless HD steps up to the plate (like they should!!!), its going to be a grim year for AMA FX Buell fans.

Our last hope for a dealer based team likely appears to be Deeleys of Canada, of which we are still waiting on the final word as to whether they will campaign FX this year with Crevier.

Still got my fingers crossed, but it's not looking good.

I think the whole letter writing campaign is a good idea though.

Blake - Maybe half-hearted was the wrong term, part-time might be better. Maybe I expected too much. After last season I expected to see at least one or two "dealer" teams (with factory support) participating in the whole season. I guess I shouldn't assume these things, but it's hard with all the sunshine that was flowing out of Buell last year.

That said, where do I send a check? Need an address.

Aeholton what I meant was that effort is being expended, calls are being made, heck even money is being collected (by us) and we will get an answer eventually. May not be today or tomorrow but we will get an answer. By internet time versus real world time I meant that we expect almost instant answers on the net while the real world usually takes a bit.

BTW, I THINK that this effort will be very much appreciated out on Buell Drive in East Troy even if they can't say that.

Paypal would risk someone getting stuck paying taxes on all the "gifts."
So no paypal at this point, only checks made out to "Buell Racing".

You may send 'em to...

A question for Court or Dave Gess, or someone in the know, how about Buell or someone doing a production run of (Buell racing sponsor) T-shirts or hats, and selling them for like $100 each all proceeds go to the fund. Might be a good idea for those more thrifty. Brian

<production>

Nope, this is purely a private effort. No ties to the factory, no factory involvement. It is a way to say to HDI "Hey us owners want to see a race team ans are willing to help pay for it, how about you guys?"

Think of it as a donation to a charity with nothing in return ans you will not be disappointed.

Am I the only one who sees the irony here? Buell is the only racing American sportbike and we are depending on two foreign based race teams (Warr's and Deeley's) to keep it going in the AMA this year. What a hoot...and what does this say about us?

We have a similar situation here in the central Bluegrass region of Kentucky. This region has a high percentage of land classified as "Prime and Unique Farmland", and the horse farms constitute much of it...or at least they used to. The area is rapidly going under the blade of the developers and many of the horse farms have already been destroyed and others are in peril.

It seems that as the older generation of farm owners has died off, the kids who inherited the land and have no interest in keeping the farms that have been in their families for generations, have sold them off to the highest bidder. They just want the fast bucks and have no idea of the true value of this land.

The irony is that saviors of this prime land are the rich arabs (maybe some of the same one's who are funding the insurgents in Iraq) who }have been quietly buying up this land for years. They are investing in it for the future as a farm, as I guess when you live on sand it gives you a much better appreciation for productive top soil. We will probably be buying our food from these guys someday, so they will have both our energy and food sources.

What a pickle.

Send money to "help" a very flush corporation field a race bike that they are trying to sell. Not a chance. Kids in braces, college looming, other family wants and needs, my own motor interests ... My $$$ is spoken for. Going to the races to show support, maintaining enthusiasm for the brand? Sure, but come on; GET OFF THE POT HD/BUELL RACING!

A letter writing campaign to some key individuals along with other skillfully aimed lobbying efforts is our likely best bet. Stay tuned for details.
