Heres two acquired from this great site : 1} broken kickstands [it must be the last part installed at BMC and the allotted amount of LokTite per bike is used up cause it gets none] remove it , dip it in loktite retighten. If it loosens its sure to break due to its design. 2}Battery terminal bolts are to long [thanks pwnzor] they appear tight , battery is getting full charge but starter motor stalls before spinning motor , to the grinder 1/8 inch later no more stalling starter motor. Add more if ya got em, curtail some of the biatchen roun here |

if you are going to work on the bike, get a service manual and follow what it says. Check your oil AFTER the bike has warmed up Set the suspension Check air pressure often Re torque the steering neck bearings Ride wheelies as often as you can |

Buell motorcycles are not truly happy motorcycles unless they get to point at the sky on a regular basis. No wonder the ones I ride are so good to me! |

Sokata, My starter motor stalls before spinning the motor too, even though it always starts. Could you elaborate on the fix for this. |

I have noticed the guys who ride the most wheelies complain the least about things breaking. Back when I first saw a buell It was a S1 riding a wheelie in one of my dads harley mags. I remember vividly dreaming of getting one and riding wheelies on it. It pays to dream. Sorry for the hijack! |

The bolts that go into the battery terminals are too long. The tips are not threaded, grind them down to the threads. Basically you are just shaving off about 1/8 to 5/32 of an inch off the tips. This will allow the bolt to bite more firmly into the lead battery post. Use loctite, and torque to about 15-17 lbs. (Message edited by pwnzor on December 19, 2006) |

If your front brake light switch goes out, don't buy a $30 replacement it'll just go bad too. Crack the sucker open and clean with WD40. |

or just add a washer or two onto affourmentioned batt.term. bolt ! Here is the problem with that. In the event that you need to swap batteries on the side of the road with a buddy who has a failed stator, there is a good chance you will drop said washer and lose it, either down into the bike somewhere or on the roadside. Then when you get to his house and take your battery back, you're not subject to the peril of him not having any washers. Trust me on this, I've lost a few sets of washers.

Make sure there are no wires routed above the battery. I just broke down on the road because a bundle of wires was routed above the negative terminal. One of the wires wore through, and bare wire was resting on the terminal. |

sooooooo. If I shave the terminal bolts down to discussed size this will cure the short stall from the stator motor? (Mine has began to do this, and I wondered why but still starts up) ADAM |

"I have noticed the guys who ride the most wheelies complain the least about things breaking. " That's a good one! The reason we don't complain is we've been abusing our toys since childhood and are accustomed to them breaking. |
