No it wasn't LSL. It was Krüger&Junginger. Recognised the name the minute I saw it. I'd have thought a man of your talents would have made your own arm by now anyway Charlie. The S1 is the best it's ever been. I finally got my head together, found some time and set about rebuilding it from start to finish, replicating in the engine everything that had broke. Don't know if you ever heard what caused the rod to snap, but it was the last person to place the pistons back on the rods used stock circlips in the Wiseco pistons. The wrist pin worked its way through the clip to one side of the piston more than the other. The effect was the pin made a conical shaped hole at one side of the piston until it made enough space for it to move into a diagonal plane - thus breaking off the top of the rod. All good stuff, lol.

96 S1 Check my profile for mods. S1's are the sweetest Buell's, hands down. They just look so hand formed. Hodakaguy

well i must had that seen coming as you and Rocket get the old Germany-Britanny quarrel all fired up. I just answered a question Hey Charley. I just want to give another example of a good looking swingarm, never intended any quarrel. And yes,you can use a wider tire in the K&J,up to 200 on a 6,25" rim. Ralph |

Wasn't going to post since its been posted before, then thought well it is an S1 Pics post. Couldn't resist. Got it out for a ride for a couple hours a few days ago, good thing I did as the weather just turned really cold here. Tried to get my friend with my old orange/silver S1 to ride along but he wimped out because of the cold. Hodakaguy |

what a great swingarm -- as for skills, just about the time I think I'm getting better, someone here on the board raises the bar to the point I can barely see it! nice work, all! |

Wow. Some great bikes. But I never understood why all that effort and people still leave the useless rear peg brackets on. Snip those damn things. Great bike, Charley! |

Buba -- this raises an interesting question -- if you lop off the passenger peg brackets, waddya do bout the side-stand? leave it where it was originally mounted? rig up a new one (as on Hodaka's done)? |

I left just enough of the bracket for the kickstand. Pics above. |

I left the brackets but removed the mounts for the pegs. My reasoning was to allow for the Buell Pro Series rearsets that I used to run. They mounted to the brackets. Here's a picture during reconstruction...

Personally I think the sharp lines of the frame are lost without the rear triangle section intact. That's one of the reasons I left alone. The other reason? No fat chicks! I tried the Buell Pro Race rear-sets. Made the rear end look far too cluttered and messy so I put them back in the box where they still are to this day. Rocket |

I've actually thought about that and I'd cut the bracket just before the kickstand stop and add a triangular piece for support. |

No triangular piece needed, at least not for mine in the last 5 years. |

For Hodakaguy, I like your sidestand solution and like to have more detailer pics. pls. I have cut the pass. pegs and made them smaller and round ends to fit the buell rearset but am not happy with sidestand sticking out. Have thought about modifying side stand to fit to engine block same as XB's but like your solution too. Can you provide some pics with details when side stand is not in use, modification to frame for connection of the plate etc. Many thanks in advance. Renter |
