I just went to BATTERIES PLUS and picked up a replacement battery XTAX20HL-BL XTREME PERMASEAL FOR $63. 310 cranking amps Probably burst open and spew acid all over my engine... It was against my better judgment but what the heck, I'll give it a shot??? I had been running my YUASA since I got the bike 16 months ago. The guy I bought it from said the battery was old then. Figured that an oz. of prevention might be worth it. A new Yuasa was $95 Soooo, I guess I am gonna find out how good BATTERIES PLUS is. What I did notice upon installing is the the battery strap is adjustable. I pushed the battery strap up against the adjustment nut until it felt snug, then added the lock nut. Nice setup. | ||

We have one of there franchise chains in fort wayne. I got some bad news for you. A friend owns a car repair business and USED TO sell batteries from them. He wont anymore. 8 out 12 batteries died an earley death. Was douglas and other brand name. They sell very dirt cheap batteries that do not last. | ||

IMHO the OEM battery is the best !!! Will continue to charge my battery for 24 hours before installing ... Replace my batteries(S3T every 2 years and P3 battery every 3 years), PLUS keep them on a trickle charge when not riding to have a trouble free experance between battery changes ... Could be a problem with the Fort Wayne store. I purchased my neighbor's '92 Chevy duelly equipped with the 454 V-8. It had a Batteries Plus battery installed. I will double check the CCA rating, but the battery was the size of what I would expect in my Ranger with the 4-cylinder. The battery expired at about 2/3 of its life expectancy. I don't think I will use the pro-rated value against a second Batteries Plus battery. PS - I know he didn't install the battery since he is 80-somthing and can't lift even this small battery over the fender. | ||

I have used battery plus batteries in my lawn mowers for years get almost 5 years out of them. That being said I just put one in the M2. The HD dealer wanted almost $ 100.00 for a battery. Think I paid around $ 60.00 . I think you will be pleased. | ||

Went for my usual hour and a half ride yesterday, nothing blew up! I love using non-HD parts/filters etc. when I can, not so much that it saves $$$ but it makes me feel like I am a smart cookie. Some stuff works too. | ||

the secret to long battery life is like what Buellistic said, make sure and precharge the battery correctly. be thankful you live in the states, i won't say what the Canadian monopoly wants to charge us for an official battery (it's a lot more that $100) in my opinion a battery is a consumable item and should be priced accordingly ($65 CDN for a yuasa 14 amp/hour battery). paying the extra $XXX for an embossed HD logo every two or three years just doesn't make sense anymore. Since you're talking batteries here, does anyone know of a smaller lump of ugliness I can use on my 96 S1 than the current lump? I'm interested in opening up the space where my battery is by possibly using a smaller one with enough cranking amps. No I don't want to kick start it!  |
