I just noticed the price for a front rotor is over $300 now from American Sport Bike. I got one less than a year ago for $140, and even then I bitched at Al because the price had just gone up $20. |

Not sure how it applies to the Buells but there are two generations of 11-1/2" diameter front brake rotors for H-D models. Both have 5 bolt holes for 5/16"-18 bolts and the hole pattern is the same diameter on both. They can be told apart by the I.D. of the hole in the center. The 1984(?)-1999 rotors are 2" I.D. and the 2000 and later is 2-1/4" I.D. (nominal measurements). There are tons of rotors on the market, quality may vary. My FXD came with aftermarket wheels and matching rotors. The rotors are chrome plated steel and the braking sucks until you get the chrome scrubbed off on the braking area. Even after you get the chrome scrubbed off the workmanship was not too impressive. The buffing and chroming process has left low spots around the holes and openings and there is some variation in the thickness of the rotor (it get a little thicker as it get nearer to the hub). I'm going to replace the front rotor with a unchromed/unpolished SS rotor. The surfaces on these rotors have a light swirl pattern visible on them from the Blanchard grinding process but the surface should be flat to within a few millionths of an inch. I'm willing to give up some pretty for better brakes. Jack |

No kidding. I'm glad I replaced my 99 with a 2000 (no nuts and bolts holding it together) a while ago. I seem to remember paying around $90 for it. $300 is nuts. Supply must be diminishing. |

My next rotor will be one of those wavy ones. I can't seem to keep from warping those stock ones. |
