I have seen XBs with both lights on. How do you get that to work? I have been told to many times I have a head light out. I would like to have two low beams and two high beams on. |

Put the hi/low beam toggle switch in the middle...both will come on. There is a wiring change that can be done, but then you have people flashing their brights at you at night. You can search it out here on BadWeb. |

Easiest/best way: Open up the headlight connector and there are wires that turn on the parking light. It is a small 194 wedge bulb between the high and low beam. Look close, its there. This light is always on, just like the headlight. But in the US, they dont put a bulb in there. (its for Euro models). What you want to do it switch the wires so the wire that powered this bulb now powers the low beam. It is always on, so no big deal. And when you turn on the high beam, the low beam stays on. Perfect. And you can just easily turn off the high beam when it starts to get dark. And when the high beam is off, you still retain the highbeam flasher button. |

I converted mine as follows: There are three wires in the switch; lowbeam, highbeam, and constant hot. Use a short piece of wire and solder it between the constant hot and lowbeam. This will give you one light when the switch is indicating lowbeam and both lights when the switch is indicating high beam. This way you still have the function of the switch for night time riding. During the day you can run on highbeam and have both lights on. Let me know if you'd like pictures. |

Does this thread pertain to lightning models only? |

It is my understanding that Firebolts have both lights on for high beam already. |

What is the color of the wires for their respective lights? Also, what about the reflector melting because of heat? I thought I read here somewhere the reflector won't take the heat of both lights on at once. |

Mesa: I'll post pics of the wiring when I get home. As for heat issues, I have had none. There are no problems with this setup on my bike. One step further, I installed a Kisan kit to make both lights flash simultaneously when in high beam mode. The kit comes with a photo cell that reverts the system back to regular high beams after dark. |

Tx05xb12s- I'd definitely like to see some pics of this modification. I've only had my bike three months, and I bet I've had a dozen people tell me, "Hey man, you have a headlight out." |

I tried the toggle switch in the middle trick and blew a fuse four miles later. Have not tried it since then, maybe I'm the only one or it was a fluke? |

No need to solder anything ... it's a 5 minute job. See this post. http://www.buelletinboard.com/forums/showthread.ph p?t=810 |

Works perfectly! No cutting, splicing or irreversible modifications required! |

Just performed the mod myself. I was unable to remove the wire terminals from the connector. So, i cut and soldered and used heat shrink. Works great! Less than a hours work. |

Did the mod per the link, and also installed LED turn signals. Used the hot wire for the third wire running light wire of turn signal. A friend I ride with at night says for him it's a dramatic improvement to my visibility. The high beam is a hundred percent better and of course no more headlight out comments. Not your standard sport bike item. Love or hate it? Kuryakyn Small LED Bullets. I may paint them black, I may try to make mounting arms of air foil shaped aluminum tube or I may, leave them as installed now. Anyway I like them and I really did not like the stock ones flopping around at idle. I'm told they really help my visibility. What do you think?

perfect! rode about a 50 mile run through the loop, which is a completely tree covered road through some marsh type road. very dark, no street lights. I saw every bit of the road and of the trees above my head. I love this place... Thank you all and badweb |
