trying something different-don`t ask-but is there any way to remove the front tie bar from the frame,in fact remove the entire assembly?I guess this would compromise damn near everything-since no one has even attempted it.Is there a really good reason, vibration aside? I`m trying to configure a new type of frame for a Buell and this thing just stands out like a sore, something I really need but aint sure its` absolutely necessary,-thumb.thinking of under-slung oil tank to pick up tortional flexing.Just a crazy thought but why is it so absolutely necessary? |

I'm assuming you want the engine/swingarm to stay attached to the frame -- without that tie bar, the forces that HAD been spread over 4 attachement points would now be spread over 3 -- I believe, though I'm not an engineer, that vibration would be the least of your worries |

If it's the one in front of the oil filter you're talking about, it's the one that is most in line with the rear axle and swingarm pivot, therefore taking most of the lateral loads along with the front motor mount. You'd turn her into a flexi-flier. Get rid of the rubber mounts and solid mount everything and you may have something...but it'll vibrate the bejesus out of you and probably break some of the thinner brackets on the bike. You'd also have to seriously beef up/modify the front motor mount bracket on the frame. |
