Sorry to hear that. The Little Kids Blasts stock exhaust broke all to pieces recently, we wilded it all up and its working fine. Stock exhausts can be found on ebay. But best way to go if you have the money is to get an aftermarket exhaust. EZblast can recommend one better than I can, I just have a Kerker on the Big Kids Blast with over 16,000 miles on it with no problems. |

V&H is the most popular, the Jardine- if you use the stock front lower mounting will last as long and is the most powerful in current production, and the D&D would be the most maintenance free and great mid-range kick - just touch up the paint every few years or powder coat and forget - the other two will need regular repacking of the cans. well my White bros started down the path of self destruction in a bad way today...my ride home was louder than usual so when I got home I took a long look at the front end...much to my displeasure I discovered a crack that runs forward on the right hand side of the header pipe radiating from above the weld on the mounting tab...I thought I had a spare header but since I have yet to find it amoungst the boxxes left still unpacked and given the number of things that I know have been stolen from my house hold goods shipment and I need to insure that I can get to and from work I made a quick call to my local dealer for a Jardine. But he can't get one until week after next so I called Iron Machine who said I could get it by friday...which is good since I leave monday after next for the rest of the month...As for why Jardine...I had a V&H and I hated it, I don't like the design of the Kerker and the DandD exhaust I've heard just seems too loud so Jardine it is. Though it does cut into my plans for upgrades this fall (Message edited by xgecko on September 08, 2006) |

Why not just buy or find the stock lower front mounting hardware, use it and get the crack welded - I did this and mine is going forever, and Scott's was mounted with the stock hardware and never had a problem and he's approaching 20,000miles with it. If you do get the Jardine - use the front stock lower mounting hardware with it - or it will crack in time also - the hardware they send is the same as the WB, and the header is practically the same as the WB as well. well since I have moved a few times since I changed exhausts I couldn't tell you where the original mounting hardware is so that ain't an option. I would rather have a header/can that I know works and then worry about rehabing the WB. There is still a chance that I have the spare header somewhere in this house in which case I'll switch it back out. I can also have my brother weld the crack but since this is my primary transport I don' want to take chances. Though ordering the stock mounting hardware does sound like good advice |

(sigh) Okay, I tried to go without the whole aftermarket exhaust thing for a while, but alas coming home from work my stock header separated completely from the muffler right above the weld. I had noticed that the stock one is kinda chinsy and had started to rust anyway, so after talking to the parts guy about options and remembering what you guys and gals said, (sigh) I ordered the Vance & Hines pipe & jet kit which will be installed on Saturday if all goes as planned. Lot of money when you are not expecting it, but in the end I hope to have a better performing happier bike. I love my Mary and need her for daily use! Okay, I can go to sleep now. |

Most folks are very happy with the V&H, just remember to pack every couple thousand miles - do it with the oil - lol GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

(Sigh) Never mind EZblast, I found it. More maintenance stuff, great. Please tell me this thing will be sturdier. Florida weather and sand reeks havoc on motorcycle parts, though the Blast has shown little to no rust with the exception of the stock exhaust and the Harley toll booth coin holder mount. Lol. |

My Jardin arrived today... no header gasket though so I can't replace it until tomorrow...not that it matters since it's supposed to rain between now and when I leave for Diego Garcia so I guess I'll wait until I get back. It is a nice looking pipe and can much higher quality looking than my old V&H though the true test will be in the sound I'm sure. |

well I took the WB apart and figured out why the header broke...the clamp that was supposed to hold the can on the header was loose...really loose. No idea how long it had been that way or what caused it but it doesn't look like the pipe is salvagable. If there are any of you who have old WB cans laying around who want to get rid of the disks I am interested in buying some. That said the good news in all this it that the Jardine header pipe and the WB header pipe are just about identical except that the Jardine header looks like it's made better. I slid the header into the WB can and everything lined up. I actually debated on just using the header but in the end decided that it would be a waste of $219 and while I use the Jardine, I can rebuild my WB for use when I upgrade my motor. As for how it sounds...quite nice actually no where near as annoying as my V&H. It has a nice rumble without the crack of breaking glass that the V&H has. This may change when it gets packed in but for now it sounds great and the guy at Iron Machine recommended repacking it with stainless steel scrubbing pads. Which given their durablity makes a bunch of sense. |

So the sound of "cracking glass" is what I have to look forward to Saturday eh? (sigh) Well, I already have my V&H pipe and jet kit paid for including the extra to get it here tomorrow so there it is. The material sounds pretty Florida resistant and should be durable especially since I'm a perfectionist and couldn't let the bolts get loose if I wanted to. I looked at the archives and no one seems to have mentioned whether they could repack the V&H with the rear tire still on or not. You mentioned stainless pads, can that be done with the V&H? |

V&H pipes are nice and from what I understand mine is still being used just by someone else...the sound it makes made my teeth hurt and for that reason over most others it had to go. Yes you can repack them no you can't do it with the can attached since you will have to drill out a number of rivets |

Thank you guys for your input. I appreciate it! The exhaust now uses allen head screws on the end cap and I assume since this one is an 07 model S22R, that it will not be the exact same can as the one Pro series and SS2r mentioned from the archives going back to 2000. If I can get the baffle out of the can without removing the pipe and or rear wheel, I believe I could actually do it myself. I'm not a mechanic and do not pretend to be. I've had over 20 years of motorcycling experience and even worked in a bike shop for many years. (Way back in the late 80s/early 90s pre-internet) Though I worked in parts not service, and this was in Alabama where (and when) changing your exhaust simply meant removing your baffles like I had done on my 87 Savage. I live in a condo where I'm not supposed to do ANY work on my bike, and have found that most of the time that I did do my own work that I would either break something, or something wouldn't come off, or go back on, or I needed parts or screws I didn't have. So sorry for the rant, but that was for those who don't seem to get why I don't do most of this myself. I'm just a rider, pure and simple. Sorry for my ignorance. |

I just repacked the Mille's Arrow can with this stuff...looked cool...Silent Sport from Germany http://www.areapnolimits.com/silentsport.html They recommended 220 grams per liter of can volume for streetbikes but I think that was a little overkill...I'd say 190 grams is good enough. |

Wow thanks! In the pictures it shows them packing bare handed! Not having to deal with fiberglass sounds good. Have you noticed any sound reduction? Let us know how well it works and lasts. |

17,000 miles...way overdue. The Mille's a big twin and it puts out some serious exhaust pulses since it's a 2-1. I also got a Falco with 15,000 miles on it but it's a got a 2-1-2. |

Mary and her new can. Great gigglin chickens it's loud!!!! Feels quite responsive though. There were a few strands of stuffing sticking out from the cap side that look like the newspaper stuffing that carlost talked about, it definitely didn't feel like fiberglass.

Just A thought, has anyone tried a slip on from any other buell with an aftermarket header?? Maybe a Drummer from a 9 might work with the V&H or Jardine header? Would be kinda cool, plus give other options. |

Update on the new V&H SS2R system. After a week, the sound has mellowed and changed tone quite a bit. Even the security guard at the entrance of my neighborhood didn't look up when I rode in this evening. My neighbors have not even noticed a difference in sound. It's like a dirt bike with "off road exhaust,"definitely not as loud as the straight pipe Honda Shadow behind my house! It's audible, but not as bad as reported. Really notice a difference in performance though! |
