Yamaha's MotoGP team have lost their Camel sponsorship. Japan Tobacco International switched from backing Honda in 2005 to Yamaha for 2006 and have now departed MotoGP completely. A predictably bland press release from Yamaha doesn't mention who - if anyone - has been lined up to fill Camel's shoes (and Yamaha's coffers) but let's hope they can find someone whose branding is largely yellow, so that the Rossi fan club don't have to invest in new t-shirts, hats, flags, banners, etc. We've been trying to think of some yellow products that might benefit from and all we could come up with was bananas and custard… It may be just coincidence, but Rossi was heavily sponsored by Alice (previously sponsored the Aprilia MotoGP & Superbike teams) in the recent Monza Rally, including some personal sponsorship on his crash helmet. Maybe they will take over? |

Given the general negative opinion of the US and our foreign policy on the international scene, why not have the ARMY be the sponsor. They could sponsor the Buell team in AMA's FX and Rossi in MotoGP. Let's face it, we could use the positive PR. jimidan |
