just when i though i had the perfect Uly, check out the new wear marks on the belt. This is brand new, from tonight. i noticed the belt is slightly outside of the sprocket, whereas before it was always flush....you might be able to see it from the second picture at the bottom. rats. it has 2100 miles.

Chinook, I don't see any damage in the pics? BTW, if you push the bike backwards you will see the belt move slightly to the right, such as in your pics. Roll it forwards and I think it will seat right back in to the left of the rear pulley. |

I have a section of my belt that the threads started sticking out of the side a little after about 500 miles. At 2200, it hasn't gotten any worse. I think about checking it every now and then and it never changes so I quit worrying about it. The belt in that pic looks brand new compared to mine. |

Wind....how did you know. Yes, I rolled it backwards into my garage. No bong....Seriously, I've never seen ANY wear, whatsoever on the belt. I don't remember the thread and white line. Well anyway, perhaps i'm just hallucinating due to the the high feeling i got from trying out my '07 airbox . I certainly don't need a trip to the dealer. Thanks for the feedback....Carry on! |

Had the same problem in psych class in college. We had to read through the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual on Mental Disorders, watched a lot of videos, that sort of thing. Next thing you know, most of us had one diagnosis or the other. In our own heads at least. Strange... Techie sites like this one aggregate problems with the same effect on its readers. You hear about the 1-10% of bikes with one problem or the other, next thing ya know yours has one or the other... you think... maybe... what was that noise? |

Chinook, I recently noticed the same thing on my belt. I can see the threads or cords or whatever there called. I can't tell what its rubbing on but it did'nt look like that earlier this summer. I woul'nt have thought much about it, but then I saw your post. 13,000 miles on the bike. I have'nt held a bong in over 20 years. I'll shut Up and ride some more. Tim |
