Does anybody run a headlight modulator on their XB? I searched the threads, but didn't come across anyone who was running one on a Buell. I was wondering if it was possible to run with a HID low beam and another bulb modulating between low and high beam? Or if a headlight modulator would work at all? Go the signal Dynamics route.... I have headlight and tail light modulator from them.. It can all be done with out any splicing or cutting of factory wires.. Here is a link post on how I did it splice less... http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/211292.html?1152332513 | ||

Probably get a ticket if you did.....it is my understanding that locally only emergency vehicles can modulate there lights. I have seen a bright yellow goldwing with one..... If I could give a word of caution on headlight modulators. I do believe they make you more visible, with that said I also believe they make you more vulnerable for an accident. I drive a tractor trailer for a living, flashing lights for me(us as an industry)signals it's o.k. to proceed with and indicated lane change or other migration through traffic. I know about modulators on bikes, however I know from experience, many other drivers do not. I am concerned that an unknowledgable driver will do a quick check in the mirror, see what he believes is a motorcycle signaling him to come on over and proceed with a lane change. Realizing, maybe too late, that you were just passing him. Just a word of caution. Next time you travel the interstate pay attention to the way they truck communicate using flashing lights. It's not a "hey look here I come." | ||

Motorcycle modulators are legal in all 50 states to my knowledge. Police and Emergency vehicles use strobes.. Strobing is different that modulating. Modulating is the voltage dropping low than back to normal never shutting off.. Strobing is off and on and off at different rates and patterns of rates Do they get your attention Your damn right they do.. I've had all kinds of times I know they have gotten peoples attention. BTW Signal Dynamics has two speeds of modulation.. | ||

Teddagreek-- Looks great! 2 questions for you: Were you able to fit the ballast behind the fly screen? Can it be set up to just modulate the high beam? Thanks for you feedback. | ||

Its comes with some sticky pad, I used heavy duty velcro.. It fits very nicely in the left upper hand corner of the fly screen.. I can modulate either beam or both at high or low rate.. I need to go in there this weekend put on a better bracket I made for the switches.. I'll finish my original post with the final pictures and a video of lights in action.. |
