I was pushing my bike to another parking space because it was better than the spot I initially parked in. I didn't want to restart the bike to move it 10 feet, so I walked it over. Some moron in group of guys walking by yells out, "If you got a Harley instead of a ricer, you wouldn't be pushing right now." All I said was, "You don't know what this is... do you?" I could hear another guy in his group explaining to him it was a Buell and yada, yada, yada... I love that kind of stuff... I could see the guy doing double takes as he was getting the explanation from his more well informed (and mannered) friend. Anyone else got stories like this? |

We've got a similar/opposite problem here in Indiana. Most of the times when we're out riding at least one or more photo-ops appear. We can usually slip in and out of a location without disturbing the peace or creating a commotion. Having said that, anytime we have a Harley in the crowd everyone and their brother are slamming on the brakes, turning around in the middle of the road and stopping traffic just to see if someone is broke down. ARRRRRGH! We had stopped over by Sweetser, IN the other day to photograph a Mail Pouch barn with almost one of every kind of bike in the group including a Harley. We could barely get a picture of the barn for all the people stopping to ask, "Y'all right, someone broke down?" We never have this problem when we only have "other" bikes(including Buells) in our group but anytime there's a Harley in the group we get cager company. Go figure. |

Oldog, If I'd had a Harley trash bag I'd have hung it on there in a heartbeat. To tell you the truth I had poked Jerry about the same scenario and how every time I tried to photograph a Harley people keep stopping to see if someone was broke down. (Must be some correlation between breaking down on the roadside while riding a Harley?) But, the fact that several people stopped that day proved what I had written months before and negated any need for a Harley trash bag. HA!!! |

"...anytime we have a Harley in the crowd everyone and their brother are slamming on the brakes, turning around in the middle of the road and stopping traffic just to see if someone is broke down. " Haaaahaaaa! I stopped for a guy Saturday who I saw struggling to get his Heritage Classic on the shoulder of the road in moving traffic. I could tell from the new bike smell and the pristine condition of his regalia that the bike was just off the showroom floor. Out of gas, btw. That was his problem. He was so excited about his new ride, he forgot gas. I try and stop for all stranded bikes, btw, not just for American bikes. |

Yesterday I pushed my bike 11 miles home after a possible stator failure. About 20 or so Harleys and various other cruisers passed me without offering any assistance or even an acknowledgment. That was a long walk. |

"I had one dumb B-----D tell me I should not be wareing a Harley T-shirt while rideing rice, I was on my X1" The only person who ever said that to me was an overweight, slightly ragged out biker chick who actually stopped her car in a mall parking lot to tell me. Even after I explained what it was, she still couldn't understand... the wheels were just not turning in her little squirrel cage of a brain. She could recognize the sound of the engine, though, so I do give her credit for that. |

you want a good WTF Buell moment. Graft a XBR faring on a M2. Paint it flat black, even over the Buell letters. Take it down to Daytona and park it next to a new XB9R. Let the fun begin!

I had one dumb B-----D tell me I should not be wareing a Harley T-shirt while rideing rice, I was on my X1. Every year around Christmas the local dealer has a Toys for tots run, The first year theres a teen age girl, with her folks all clearly non riders, Any way I offer her a ride, as I walk away I hear her "mother" tell her that, "you don't want to ride with that guy, he's got one of them crotch rokits, it aint a Harley" .. In the end I believe that she wound up sitting the ride out............. There are some real bright folks out there for sure. |

Had a woman at a Harley-ish rally ask her old man what that was. He said it was some kind of off brand Harley, just as I was walking up behind him. I leaned over him and told his Old Lady, "That's what a Harley looks like that goes fast. Y'all probably only see them as they go by and not for very long either" He wanted to start something. Real bad. |
