The more I ride my lightning, the less gold coloring I have on the headers. How do I get the original coloring back? Or can I?

Use paper towel to apply buff it off with soft terry clothe. It may take one or three applications but it'll be better then new.

The important thing to consider is which year the bike is. The newer models already have a "goldish" coating on them - for that... I have no idea. I sanded and polished mine.

Well, on mine about 50 miles after I polish, they are a polished gold for about another thousand, then I polish them again... All in all I keep the blueing away with the polish, THATS my main concern

Dana's bike still turns goldish... look the the bend by the 2-1... gold.

It's inevitable... mine are going to jet-hot.

Brine is right they will turn gold....they are in that pic above. What I find though is what you use as to how long it lasts. I polish about 4 times a year and it takes me 10 minutes each time. Eagle 1 seems to be the easiest and best of what is out there and I don't have to do it as much.

I have a nice coating of dirt and water spots. These cover up the bluing pipes nicely.

LOL...yeah, my Firebolt cover's got a nice hole melted right at the tail end from where it brushed against my old headers one day.

Personally, I always like the bluing, but my header has since been replaced with a black Jet-Hot coated one.
