Hey all. Here is the deal: I have an '05 XB9R and a fellow BadWebber has an '05 XB12Scg. We are trading suspensions head-up. I know we need to trade forks, rear shock, and kick-stand, but we are both under the impression that the lower triple tree needs to be swapped also. Can anyone confirm this? Also, if anyone has done this already and can advise me on what steps to take that would be great; or if someone has a service manual for these bikes and could fax me the pages that cover removing the forks I would be forever grateful. I am planning on starting this tomorrow (3/10). I should mention that I do have much mechanical experience, just not with my bike to this point. Thank you in advance for the help! -Robb |

Robb, No you don't have to swap out the lower but you do the top. Easy just to swap out the whole unit then to mess with the the clamp's. Let me stress to you though to do this without the manual could be a huge mistake considering torque spec's. I'd borrow you mine but its in use at the moment. Uke's or even Racine HD should have a XB manual in stock. Better safe then sorry. |

Thanks Dana, I shot up to House of Harley and snagged a manual this afternoon. I appreciate the offer of help, but I am mainly looking for someone who has completed this same swap already. I guess I didn't think that it would have to happen, but if I have to lose my stock upper triple clamp, I'm out on this deal. |

Nobody said you would lose your top tree. You'll need it on the fork's you'll be putting on your bike. Thats what I mean't by swap. (Message edited by bads1 on March 10, 2007) |
