To get a license they have to pass a course run in a closed environment. They they get to go out on the street and deal with the real world. Over time, the requirements of the school training events (go around two times, come to a full stop, etc., etc.) turned into a speed event. It reminds me of the old gymkanas for sports cars. Those gave rise to some pretty raunchy one off cars. Like a Fiat 600 with a Porsche engine. Jack
