need some help please... replacing front pads on '02 S3T, Lyndall part # 7202. Removed old pads, removed caliper & cleaned pistons. Retracted pistons completely, reinstalled caliper, left caliper loose. Slid one pad in caliper, tried for the other - no go - not enough room. cleaned off gold paint from back of pads, still no go. Any help appreciated thanks andyh |

Use the old pads to gently push the brake pistons back into the seated position. They should seat with small effort/pressure DAve |

If you did not clean the pistons first, overhaul the caliper! One board member has gone down due to front brake problems when you push the dirty pistons back in. The retract action of the seals is not reliable. thanks for the replies... but i removed old pads, removed caliper, extended & cleaned pistons. Retracted pistons completely, reinstalled caliper, left caliper loosely mounted. Then I installed inside pad. When attempting to place outside pad, there appears there is not enough room - it will not go with out forcing in place. Never have used Lyndall pads before - thought maybe there was a trick to them....or something I'm missing thanks andyh |

Are the pads too thick or too wide? I noticed that the Lyndall's backing plates fit a bit more snug than stock (width), but this could be because the old backing plates were worn already where they contact the caliper. Also, I had to carefully file the holes where the retaining pin inserts through the pads - they were just a little too small. |

i just installed the same pads this weekend, i also had to file the holes larger. as well the little nubs at the ends of the pads are not quite as tall as the stock pads, and allow the retainer clip to actually rub the edge of the rotor! i had to clearance the gap in the spring clip to clear everything. did the bed in procedure, all is good, now need to do the rears! |

I had to ship my LRB brakes back to have the pads be re-ground. Some were made far to wide and LRB is aware of the problem. |

Thanks for the replies. I sent LRB a email this morning with pad measurements - not heard back from them yet. Sloppy - this seems to be my problem - pad too thick. I have another new LRB set, and am going to compare them tomorrow. Don't have a new stock set to compare dimensions. Meanwhile, I'll rebuild caliper & master cylinder. thanks again, andyh |

I had a similar problem on my S1W. I called them and they said they made some of the pads too thick. That was 3 years ago, so they should have fixed it my now. I put the pads on my belt sander, and got them to work fine. But before I did that, I drove it on my lawn and went down. Pissed me off. |

I'm going to try them on the X1 this weekend - see if they will work on it. Spoke with a rep at LRB yesterday, informed that a service tech would be getting back to me. andyh |

update.... got a call from LRB yesterday, they're sending replacement pads, no comments on thickness problem tho. |
