I have the Tomasellis on my bike. I found that they need to be raised to clear the fork tubes. I did this by installing another handlebar clamp under the bar, and using longer bolts. I still had problems with cable leads so I added a second handlebar clamp.  The result is that the bars are about as far forward as the R bars, but about an inch and half higher. I like them.  This is how they look from the front. I found it necessary to change the front brake master cylinder, and I used a Nissin 14mm front master cylinder that I got at Dennis Kirk. It has a remove reservoir. I am always amazed how complicated a simple handlebar switch ends up. When you count up all the things going on a handlebar, I guess it should not be so surprising. | ||

Thanks for the info and pix. I was curious if they would fit. I was also thinking of just using a straight drag bar and cutting them to length, though I don't know if they would hit the airbox. Like you said changing bars is always difficult for something you would think is straight forward. | ||

I haven't tried straight bars, but having fitted stock, CR Azonics, Laverda Jota and Tomaselli bars to various XB Lightnings, I am just guessing that straight drag bars will not only hit the tank when turning the bars, but I am not sure if they will clear the front fork tubes either. The Buell fork clamp is not my favorite feature on the bike as they are very low, and very close to the fork tubes, so it is hard to mount other bars. In addition, the fork clamp is angled for no reason that I can see, so fitting aftermarket risers is also a challenge. Actually, I am thinking about designing some new risers for my bike. Now that I think of it, Matt at Trojan, one of our sponsors, has some Buell risers that might help with your drag bar idea.  | ||

You say you used a 14mm master cylinder from Dennis Kirk. They don't carry any Nissin parts (any longer, I'm guessing). Can you tell me whether it was for a specific bike, or if you have a part number from an invoice or maybe on the m/c itself? Did your banjo bolt fit right on? Did it come with a lever? |
