So I broke an exhaust stud and a motor mount awhile back and used it as an excuse to find and install some go fast parts. I was starting to lust after Ducatis and Prillers so I figured I better find some more HP because it would be cheaper than an Italian bike. Since I was shopping ebay it took a bit to get everything. The list: Race ECM Race header with D&D muffler Gutted airbox Revolution Stage two heads SE 536 cams (these I got new from my local dealer) Power Commander (just in case) LSL rearsets LSL frame sliders (which clear the race header much better) I want to go for a ride but I think I will let the neighbors sleep. Boy is that D&D loud. Plus it's raining pretty good tonight. The cam install went way easier then I thought it would, somehow I set the cams in exactly the right spot for everything to line up, the header on the other hand was an absolute pain to sneak past the voltage regulator and shock. Over the winter I think Traxxion Dynamics or Racetech are getting my forks and I think I decided Penske is going to be the rear shock choice. Then I need some clip ons, a chin spoiler, a subframe and front fender so I can paint it flat black. I can't wait till daylight. |

Garrett Just pre D&D action shots, here's a couple, I'll see about taking some shots tommorrow
Went for a test ride today, oh boy!!! It appears a PC isn't neccessary yet as it worked beautifully with just the race ECM. Picked up a ton of midrange power and it just keeps pulling till it hits the rev limiter. It used to feel like it was pretty much all done at 6500rpm. No real slow corners to play on today but it pulls hard from about 4k and up so 60 to 100mph goes by really quick in fourth gear. Now on to the suspension and creating the oops I ran out of money for paint look. (flat black) (Message edited by crashm1 on September 18, 2006) |

Crashm1...Just wondering...I have converted my S3T back to stock so that I can get it through DE inspection. I am not sure if this was completely necessary but it is too late to turn back now. I was considering a similar setup to yours...what I mean is I know that I am going to be missing a lot of power now that I am stock and I have on my list the race header, race ecm, and D&D. I want to keep the stock airbox although some modification may be necessary. What did you do for the installation of the RACE ECM? What steps did you take? Just curious.... |

J, Plug it in and get the TPS reset by the dealer unless you have the VDTS software. If you have already had that ECM on your bike the TPS reset shouldn't be neccessary. I've run my bike for 3 years with just the race ECM, stock header, gutted airbox and a Supertrapp and have been pretty happy. It wasn't till I started doing trackdays that I needed more power. I liked the Supertrapp sound but the race header came with the D&D and I need to figure out how to modify my Supertrapp to work with the new header or figure out a way to quite down the D&D a bit. It really is obnoxiously loud. I live in the boondocks so I don't have too many neighbors but no sense pissing them off too much. The heads and cams really woke the bike up. |
