I am looking at upgrading to HID eventually. I am interested in anyones comments that has them installed on their Buell as to how they are performing. For those that did the high beam as HID also, how is that working out? Also, For those that have seen a firebolt with HID, how is the glare? I have the H3 on my firebolt, and I want to switch to a bigger bulb, and it just so happens that the lightning uses an H7 bulb I believe. What do I have to change to be able to install these bulbs on my firebolt? Does the whole housing need to be exchanged or just a mounting bracket maybe? Any and all help is much appreciated. I run an HID low beam (H7) on my lightning, and find it VERY helpful at night. If you do install HID, take care to wire it to stay on at all times, they do not like to cycle on and off. |

"If you do install HID, take care to wire it to stay on at all times, they do not like to cycle on and off." Does that mean you can not use HID for the high beam? How does cars with HID deal with High/Low beam? I'm planning on doing a HID conversion on my Firebolt too. I want to get it done before this fall, when we start having early night fall. |

you might consider, in addition to the HID low beam, adding a pair of auxilliary driving lamps, wired via relay to the high beam switch. I am well pleased with my PIAA 004XT set, mounted to the upper fork legs.

aerostitch.com has semi plug and play hid lighting systems available for a pretty reasonable price. http://www.aerostich.com/catalog/US/HID-Headlight-Conversion-Kit-p-18322.html I might try to do one of their conversions this winter. |
