Has anyone re-packed their V&H ? I was riding home last night and that lovely tinny/rattle sound starts emitting from the bike .. pronounced on engine braking/downshifting ... How difficult a task ? How much is a kit to do this from V&H ?(they weren't open when this happened, have to wait till Tuesday so I thought I'd ask here in the meantime) Thanks Brian |

I've repacked mine. It's a bit time consuming- at least for me- trying to get the packing material in for the first time. I've read on a few occasions that some feel an unpacked V&H can lead to vibration and failure of the exhaust mounts. To be safe, I repacked mine, YMMV |

Hippiejoe did a great write up on a V&H repack, with the requisite great responses from the collective. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/218129.html?1155103049 |

Good info ! The problem I am running into is that the baffle end that is supposed to connect to the end cap is a bit mangled ... there is no way to reconnect it to the baffle end ... looks like I may need to buy a new baffle as well as the packing material, which wouldn't be so bad but I just bought a Pro Series complete exhaust but was planning to wait until I take everything apart this winter for powdercoating to put it on, after the header pipe is ceramic coated .. I guess it's ok though, once the pro series is on I will be offering up a great condition/newly repacked V&H ... Thanks for the input guys. |
