Hi, I was wondering if any of you ever experience this. I've got an '05 CityX with about 7k miles, running like a top. I set the idle, and after about 4-6 weeks pretty consistently I have to raise the idle some. It typically falls to about 800-900 before I raise it back up to 1050 or so per the manual. And it runs so much better at correct idle. Is this normal? I think my idle screw is going to run out of adjustment soon? Thanks. |

I doubt you're running out of adjustment. Probably just adjusting itself back. These engines vibrate a bit. |

I've never experienced the creeping idle, but when resetting my TPS and then adjusting the idle, I noticed that the adjustment cable has a lot of flex in it. It seems like sometimes when turn the cable, it turns quite a ways before it affects the idle. I could see where that might cause the idle to creep, coupled with the engine vibration. Maybe try setting the idle from the other direction, that is, if you have been starting with a low idle and turning it up, try running the adjustment up to a higher rpm and then turning it down to the correct idle, or vice-versa. You're right about these bikes running better with the idle set right. Good luck, Bill |
