I've been browsing this site for about a month now learning everything I can from you guys. Thank you very much!! I just rode my new 06 XB12Scg home last night...what a ride!! It's my first Buell (and real bike for that matter). Any advice for a new XB owner and a relatively new rider?? | ||

Welcome aboard, Rugger ! The Service Manual is great for understanding how your bike works and keeping it sharp. Be careful during the 'post honeymoon' period. Most accidents happen when you're comfortable with your bike and gaining in confidence. Stay frosty and enjoy your Buell  | ||

rev engine to ~4-5K, put bike into first gear and pop the clutch. Watch what happens!!!!!  Welcome and congrats on the new bike | ||

If you follow Damnuts' suggestion, I would put the bike in first gear then rev the engine to 4K.  | ||

Wear your gear, no matter how hot it is. Ride your own speed don't let anyone push you into riding faster or harder than you feel comfortable with. Even veteran riders can benefit from a riding school like MSF or rider's edge courses. Once again, wear all your gear no matter how hot it is, and accidents are MORE likely on short rides so don't use that as an excuse! | ||

Hello All, I recently got my first real bike much like Rugger15. She is a XB12S Lightning and she is beautiful. I have taken the rider course and it was nice, but it doesn't prep you for your own bike (at least not the course I took). I am use to riding in the desert scene, but it is so different than the street scene. I went to go ride her for the first time yesterday and she did not want to start. Guess that is Gods way of telling me "not yet." Not to mention the fact that I felt nervous like I was in high school going on a first date. Pretty silly right. Two things I wanted to ask 1) frame sliders or not? maybe another option 2) are there any riding groups in or near Lake Elsinore CA that would be willing to hang with a squid like myself?
