How important are they?

I installed those flush mount LED signals and love how they look. The problem is there is only 1 LED diode in each signal, so I wouldn't recommend these. At night, they are perfectly bright enough and I do like how they look. However, during the day, they are almost totally washed out and basically useless.

Should I swap them for standard bulb style flush mounted signals, or buy some high quality stalk mounted signals, or considering most cagers are blind anyway - just not worry about it and ride as though they can't see me anyway(which I already do). I still have my stock front indicators.

See profile for picture of the bike... Note: the LED taillight has brighter and obviously MORE diodes and is easily visible even in direct sunlight - so that will stay...

Add an extra bulb or two to it - is that an option? or look for a brighter bulb? -

The led's are not replaceable, as far as I can tell. They are supposed to last forever. There isn't room in the housing for more, and making a custom circuit board with multiple LEDs isn't something the average Joe can whip up in the garage anyway.

How bright are those mini cat-eye signals you(EZ) use? Are they easy to see in direct sunlight - in the evening when the sun is lower in the sky and shining directly on them?

What about the mini flush-mount lights like what I have, except with a standard bulb. How bright are those?

Has anybody tried one of these?

Not on a Blast but the GTHawk I used to ride with in Honolulu had that kind of setup and it sucked in the daylight. He also got a lot of harassment from the police because of it (Hawaii actually has rules about how close to the tail light the turn signals can be).

Funny - the Catseyes kept shorting out in the rain - lol - I went to the mini-arrow shaped because of their redesign made the small stock flexible - nice, and they are really bright - even in the daylight, and just a few bucks more - American Sport Bike sells them for about the same price as Cyclegear - so I'd get them there at American Sport Bike.

Actually the U.S.D.O.T. has requirements on how close the signals can be to the center tail light on a bike. That's probably partly why the new GSXR Suzukis went to a wider tail section to integrate the rear signals into the bodywork and still stay DOT legal.

I was behind a sportbike the other day with one of those tail light signals. His turn signal was borderline invisible over his brakelight. If I didn't recognize the bike and knew where he was turning I would not have known he was signaling a turn.

yes I think it's 11" apart centered in the front and 8" in the rear however it you change from stock in Hawaii it's 11" front and rear. california isn't the only state that has silly laws on the books

I have no idea how bright EZs' set up is from the front, but its real visible from the rear in the daylight (surprisingly so given the small size). The front bar end lights help too. So much so that I may get some (If my Blast gets some regular street time again).
I like using the signals as running lights also. I'm not sure how EZs' set up would be for that.
LED tail lights seem real bright too. My stock tail light is at an angle compared to stock and is almost invisible.I wonder if the LED's would be the same (at an angle). Something to consider when modifying. Also the PIAA 1157 'super bright' bulb is a waste of money.

That led tail light on my bike is very bright. It's almost too bright at night. It was $40 from "custom dynamics". The only thing with it was that it puts out a fairly narrow beam of light, so you do need to be careful about the angle you mount it at.

I'll have to look into those Kellermann signals. I like the flush mounts however, the tail of the bike is so clean with no stalks sticking out of it...

Edit:
Holy Scheit! Those Kellermanns are $80 - EACH

Hi all

I've been lurking out here for a while, and riding a blast for about a 4 months. Does anybody have any experience with these or have any comments jokes or general observations;

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=4646641674&sspagen ame=ADME:B:AAQ:US:1

i emailed seller asking about installation on blast or an image or maybe just a hint that they will actually work. their response was never installed one, never seen one installed and they have no images. sorry.

ignoring their brush off for the moment, what do you think

btw y'all have been very helpful, but the best advise so far has been ride it like you stole it for a year, then think about trading up. every time i think i've pushed it as far as it'll go, there is always one more little lean or tweak.

Its the same as for the M2 - should work - have seen the clear setup on the M2 - are the bulbs extra on that one?

(Good to see your taking good advice!)

this is what they say

# LED cluster kits are a complete unit, include two 2" round clusters with 50 LED taillights on a circuit board and a clear taillight lens

# Cluster is mounted inside the taillight housing assembly and connected to an 1157 or 3057 bulb adapter plug that installs directly into the factory wiring harness

but then they say

# Some clusters are lens and bulb kits (no housing assembly); these include a 1.5" round cluster with 30 LEDs on an 1157 circuit board type bulb

so i'm thinking yeah they do.

but their brush off has me a little befuddled. the second option doesn't specifically say there will be 2 shipped. and the comment "Picture below may not be of exact part you will recieve" is a catch all "it's not our fault" kind of thing.

guess what i need to do is pull the lamp housing and measure to see if the 1.5" diameter cluster will fit in the existing housing. and bone up on whatever 1157 and 3057 mean.

1157 is the tail light bulb part #, meaning the lights plug in just like your standard bulb.
$60 sounds like a lot of money to spend on an unseen part. You might be spending $60 for a part someone else sells for $30 or that wont fit at all.
There are other LED assemblies (esp. on e-bay) out there and you can see exactly what you get.

PS the new Uly uses an LED tail light.

I have this on my blast and it works quite well with the stock tail light assembly

gear - i agree, i think their 60$ is because of the clear lens, but you're right. i did a quick google on clear industries and didn't find anything. i am interested in the 50 or 30 lamps, but i more interested in knowing that something actually works.

thanks X,
