I had a couple oil lines leaking so while I was down there changing the muffler I teflon taped them and they have stopped. The oil leak I still have is the sensor behind the header above the oil filter (I guess the low oil sensor). I tightened it a little but that just threads it into the block more and thats not where it's leaking, it leaking at the top between the rubber that the wires go through and the metal part of it. Does anyone else have this problem and can I replace the rubber or do I have to replace the whole sensor? Im tired of wiping the oil off everything and I'm down to my last leak. |

i'm betting whole sensor, there shouldnt be any oil actually making it out there. i figure its cracked or something. |

Its just a oil pressure sending switch isnt it ? Just get a new one, we bought a new Blast and the thing was leaking from day one. The switch is less than $10 and any H-D shop should have them.....I think Good Luck |

Percyco is correct. It's the Oil Pressure Switch. My did the same exact thing on my '03 XB9S at about 2400 miles. It was about a $30 parts & labor job at the dealership. I had mine done right away, so I'm not sure about the dangers of it running like that for too long. Just noticed that yours is an '03 Lightning as well. Must have been a problem that year. My 04 seems to be leaking from there also. Gets a little oil on the muffler and kind of stinks. I'm going to get it fixed soon! |
