Running syn 3

I used to notice my fan kick in while riding.. I went on a 3 hour ride the other day in the 92% heat and it never kicked on once even in bumper to bumper traffic and long lights.. Untill I turned it off...

I've heard of the fan running less once you put more miles on the bike.. I'm close to 8k

I glanced at the service manuel last night all I could find real quick was something about the fan not running at all..

Is this something I should look into on the other hand the bike runs fine...

Working as intended. The fan will come on less as the engine breaks-in (a process that takes many, many more miles than the 500 listed in the manual). Most people report a reduction in fan operation when they switch to synthetic lubricants as well.

It still comes on when you shut it off, which simply means that the bike is no longer getting hot enough during use to require additional cooling (there are different criteria for fan operation depending on engine on/off).

I worried that the fuse might have gone on mine. But after some slow speed riding the fan came on when I stopped.
About 5000 miles on it, synthetic oil, the fan runs much less than before.
Less friction = less heat

I think you're good. It's starting to cool off where I live, humidity means denser air for better cooling, it's getting loose...

Sounds about right to me.

A friend of mine bought an '05 12SCG and had me put the first 1000 miles on it. I was AMAZED at how much more the fan would run compared to '04 12R with 24K.

I just hit 8k with the same setup on my 12s and noticed the same thing the past month with 100 degree weather...I am running a right side scoop as well, though..it does come on briefly when I shut the bike off..all else is seems good.
