M2 2002, 14K, will start right away but die within 10 seconds. I have to turn the key off (no lights), turn back on again only to have the same thing happen. I've tried new plugs but that only works for a very short while. It will work eventually once it is warm but this takes ages. I merely want it to start, as it had up to now, without having to go through this on/off business. Is this electrical? starter? Fuse? I'm asking before going to the shop to spend what will surely be plenty of $$. |

Maybe the mixture too rich?
Try to push the choke and take over with the throttle within ten seconds.
You can enrich the mixture then by blipping the throttle: The acceleration pump will do that.

If it starts, runs and then dies after 10 seconds, its not the starter, or a fuse.
It may be electrical, however. Check your safty switches.
For anybody on the board to help you more than just to point at the usual suspects like safty switches, you will need to describe how the bike runs when it does run for that 10 seconds very specifically, and also what exactly happens when it dies.
Good luck - I just went through a 2 month diagnosis and step-by-step repair with mine - complicated by the fact that I had to learn and buy tools and I went...
