It's the big rubber part of the engine mount... It 'isolates' engine vibrations from the rest of the bike. |

There are three of them; one on each side at the swingarm pivot and one that supports the front of the engine. The frame is essentially rubber mounted to the engine/swingarm assembly. Early isolators were considered troublesome and prone to failure, but I still have the original ones in my 2000 M2 with 30k miles, and they look fine. |
