there is a post in the Wanted section.. Well, did the static tests on teh fuel pump today, or, I should say tried, and it failed... attempted to build pressure, BUT, wouldnt even move fuel though a free line... so..its gone... I am either in need of a pump, like TOMORROW or thursday, OR, I need a carb and intake, and soon after, ignition, etc to convert to a carb, I know I can get a petcock for the tank, and of course, I will be going with bigger cams....eh.. ya'll know the drill... Anyway, there it is... one thing after another... Chase |

Andy, Joe, thanks.. Andy, I should be in touch with you in a couple days(as my schedule permits)... I have a pump sitting on a TV in Florida, BUT, I haven't heard from Matt in 2 weeks, so, I dont know... And 135 for the pump, and it didnt sell? I havent checked the HD price yet, BUT, I think it would be cheaper to switch to carb, especially since I still have the old style throttle body... hmmm, gonna talk to a few people tomorrow... Thanks... now, to entertain the carb option.. Chase |

are you able to remove the pump from the housing? If so, take it to a auto parts store they be able to cross ref it with another. I believe just the pump was 20 or 30 bucks for my old Cougar... |

Do the carb, no TPS, no O2 sensor, no wimpy injector nozzles to clog, and NO FUEL PUMP. Did I mention the "set it and forget it" factor? You'll be glad you did. |

I carbed my X1 in 1998. If I can find my old fuel pump, I will gladly let you have it...for free even. I still run a fuel pump...but it's a little different...in every sense. |

Pammy, sounds great... Been looking through my stuff, i KNOW I HAD 2 different fuel pumps(Holley), but, all I can find is my low pressure(10 psi), high volume pump. At least I know, that if I can find a smokin deal on a carb and manifold, I have a pump big enough to supply the carb AND the happy juice at once... Thanks for the help everyone... BTW, I will be in teh process of moving to a different townhouse over the next few days... SO, if anyone comes up with something, gimme a ring if I dont respond within a reasonable time.. 757-406-3485 Thanks all, ya'll the reason this board is sucessfull... Chase |

I think it is a bit more involved than just swapping out the throttle body and the carb. I believe the wiring harness needs modification. Hay pammy I thought the X1 came out in 99.... just curious. |

Blackbelt, kinda, not really... First off, with a basic ignition(either HD, or aftermarket), it just needs power and a ground, adn the ignition does the rest. The harness mod at that point, would be to cut off the FI sensor wires cleanly... Honestly, that is about it.. IIRC, a carb could be fitted, and it would run with the FI ignition, but, I need to look back through everything to confirm that... Chase |

I bought mine in 1998. I believe it was Sept. Made the swap in Dec/Jan. Chase, going out this afternoon to look for the pump. |

I just did the carb conversion to my 00 S3, with the help of the knowledge vault here. I left the stock ignition, and all of the plugs for what I removed, I just tied them to the harness out of the way. Wish I could help with the pump, but I want to keep all of the FI stuff in case it is needed at a later date. |

I just converted my 99S3 to an HSR42, Crane HI4 and coil. I was plug and play and got ride of the wiring harness question. Joe |

Alas, I have no fuel pump to offer. It has been so long. I have a vague notion that I may have a portion of it still in my tank. I am in the process of disassembling the yellow beast at this very point in time, but I would guess that what may be left of MY fuel pump might be no good if it is still in the tank. |

By the way...I have come to that conclusion because I searched everywhere else....THEN I said to myself(and I am not a good listener, sometimes) "did the fuel pump get left in the tank? I think it did..." |

Hmmm... Well, since the best deal I can come up with, is a Super E carb, and a manifold, for 275... which I dont have..I dont know what to do at the moment.. thank you for your help everyone... Chase |

Go to one of the aftermarket H-D shops, you can probably get a stock 40 CV carb and manifold for next to nothing. Most of the guys who throw money away for the Super E usually leave their "junk" stock CV carbs there. Instead of installing a Yost kit, they buy the S&S not realizing they are taking "junk" home with them and making less power. They do end up with a "cool" air cleaner cover for their $500.00 approx. Problem solved, and cheap too. |

Keep the EFI if you're going to keep the motor internals relatively stock. If you're going to go to a carb a flat slide is the way to go. You'll never want a CV on anything ever again. |

Well, the internalls arent going to stay relatively stock for too long... Been looking at ALOT of different options, and the limitation is the ability to locally tune the Fuel Infection... Dont get me wrong, I have had little to no issues with the FI, its been great. But, its ability to keep up with what I want, is slim... Chase |
