I can't believe he stayed on the bike. Probably because he hit the head of the deer first instead of "dead on" the torso. |

You know I didn't even see the deer at first just the bike exploding until the slow motion. That was a small deer. You should have seen the one my friend hit just 2 bikes in front of me a couple of weeks ago. Major carnage to bike, beast and man. He hit the deer square in the middle. |

On July 10th, I destroyed the most beautiful Bolt I have ever seen. I came over a small rise in the road, and there lay a pothole, a big pothole. At that time I was looking down at my gauges and was completely caught of gaurd. It was especially shocking as the handlebars started slapping. The bike went down on it's left side, I came off and landed on my HJC helmet. I luckily ended up on my backside, sliding down the road feet first. I was directly in front of the bike at all times, even as we both ended up in the 8 ft. ditch. A deputy was right behind me and was there to pull me out. When I got out I realized I had some slight discomfort and atleast one of my ankles was broken. I reached down and cinched my boot up to keep the swelling down. I had on jeans, my military steal toed boots, a t-shirt under a long sleaved shirt, and gloves. Aside from my helmet, the gloves were the most crucial part of my gear because of my Pete Rose style departure. The left glove did burn through on one spot, the injury to my hand was a penny sized hole in my palm, that would be both palms if I had no gloves on. I have learned alot from the ordeal, Dairyland Insurance is great, and only look at your gauges when you have scanned a smooth track ahead first. I have been riding for a couple of years and have been lucky. I guess my clothing option that day was the bare minimum option for riding.
