I'm buying a Garmin 2720 in the next few months, and have been pondering how to mount the receiver in such a way that it doesn't block the gauges or idiot lights. Right now I'm leaning toward a RAM mount. How is yours mounted? |

I used a RAM mount for my Garmin 276. It's out of the way of the gages when mounted on the right side. There was significant line of sight interference when mounted on the left.

Thanks BB. What base are you using on the mount, and where is it connected to the bike? It's hard to see in the pic. I had been thinking about that position as well, but was a bit worried about the unit being exposed like that. Any issues? |

The mounts are unit specific. This one is a RAM-B-149Z-GA7U. The RAM website is set up to find the correct application for your GPS. Look it up under "motorcycles". Here is a better picture of the mount.

I've got the same, but on the left side (easier to futz with while riding (*gasp*). On the right is my V1. I used the "R-A-M motorcycle mount for clutch/brake reservoir bolts." http://www.cyclegadgets.com/Products/product.asp?item=RAM-BA FWIW, I've had good luck with cycle gadgets. BTW, you can take the GPS's mount apart, and mount the round bit directly too it. You can sort of see that here: http://www.pbase.com/stevenknapp/image/59829572 |

Bienhoabob, I think that's the route I'm going to take. Can you give me the specifics (or just a pic) of your RAM mount. |

My mount looks exactly like the picture Brotherbuell posted. You need to order a cradle that fits your Garmin model and the swivel mount. (Didn't see any part number inscribed on the parts.) I took mine off a Road Glide that I had. The mount is adjustable to just about any position that you can imagine. It's a u-bolt to the swivel mount to the GPS cradle. It can be mounted anywhere the handlebars are thick enough. www.rammount.com |

If you're looking for RAM stuff, just call cyclegadgets! Good/helpful people! Excellent customer service. Great return policy. I'll often order more than I need, tinker with it, and then return what didn't work out. |

Hey Ftd, I really like the sound of that new Garmin zumo. I hope they include the option for the XM weather radar service. Let me know if you find any pictures. |

Maximum, The zumo is pictured on the Garmin site... and yes, XM weather support. http://www.garmin.com/products/zumo/ |

The Zumo is supposed to hit the street the fourth quarter of this year. Typically, it will be a little late. The Garmin website is sketchy on details and there is no manual for it there yet. I want to know if it will record track details (locations, speeds, and times at a minimum) for later review. If it will do that it will have a leg up on the Rider. And if it does not do multiple destination routes it won't work for me or most bikers. Time will tell... Jack |

"Boys and girls THIS is the ticket." That's what I'm saying! Up till now it has been; "I like these features on this unit, but those features on a different unit". As far as I can see, I like all the features on this baby! |

The UI looks more like the c330 my wife has than their past units. While they say they have some of the more advanced features like downloadable routes and track logs, I'm curious how well those will be. 3hr battery life is a bit short IMHO too. It will be interesting to see how it works out. Definately going against the TomTom Rider! |

I like the Zumo but I already have such an investment in cradles and power cables for the Garmin 26xx/27xx/28xx series (both cars and two motorcycles have mounts and cables run). I really hope (but doubt) the Zumo uses the same power/audio cable otherwise I'll probably end up with a 28xx for my next GPS |

Zumo looks awesome! But I just can't spend over $1000 for something I just don't need at all. I use my old PDA and it works well enough. I guess if money didn't matter as much I'd buy the Zumo in a heartbeat. It does seem to be the logical integration of several products that many have been waiting for... but the price tag is tough to swallow. I wonder now, how long will it take for "them" to start charging us for the GPS signals themselves? |

The Zumo looks neat, and the size is more conducive to placement on an XB, but it does a lot of stuff I don't need/want it to do (XM, traffic, Bluetooth). I'll have to see what the street price is before I consider it. |

Roadrailer, This might interest you, if you haven't already purchased your Garmin. Outpost has the Garmin 2720 GPS on sale for $599.99 plus shipping (under $10 ground for most folks). This is the best price I have seen for this GPS. http://shop2.outpost.com/product/4579547 |

If the 2720 has a hard drive in it, you may want to reconsider. I know several folks that bought the 2620, and it didnt hold up from the vibrations and general shaking they got from being mounted to a motorcycle. |

The 2620 and 2660 are the *only* Street Pilots that used hard drives. Strangely the Garmin web page does not say what kind of memory is in the 2820. It has 2Gb of memory and is using a little over 1Gb of it as delivered I'm told. It would be a step backwards and crazy if it was anything but flash memory. I have the good ol' Garmin GPS V mounted on my left side handlebar with a RAM ball mount. Works great! Excellent visibilty, right in my scan. Easy on, easy off with the ball mount so no worries re security. Best, Jim in SB |

I have the 376C and like it alot. Mounted with a ram ball and 3" arm, center of cross bar. I think I am going to order the 1" arm and see how that works. Power through the aux cig lighter on dash. Listen to xm radio on it and also get the weather. I was able to dodge rain squales last spring in the mountains of Va. and WV. i have also used cyclegadgets alot and they are very good to do business with. Paul |

I recently mounted my Quest using a combination of Touratech and Ram parts. I got the Touratech MvG Mount(065-0092), the Ram Handlebar mount (GRAH), Short Arm (GRASA), and Diamond Base Mount (GRAD). I have it mounted on the left side (close to the power point) and it does not obstruct the gauges or tank bag. I do think that the GPS Bracket Adapter (380-0110) would be an issue with the gauges and the tank bag. Very happy with the set-up and the support from Cycoactive. |
