i have a 2000 m2 with a bad rear isolator. according to service bulletin B-016B, this should be covered. it says that if vehicle is out of warranty the dealer should proceed without prior authorization. a service writer said it is not covered. am i correct that it is covered or not? if i am correct, how do i get it done? they are the original isolators. thanks | ||

You should contact the Buell customer service humans via a telephone device. Make sure to have your V.I.N. handy. They log all of the recall info since it was first made. | ||

So these are still covered, even if they go out on a really old bike? Horray! Were the '99s affected by the isolator recall? I just picked up an M2 from that year with slightly over 2k miles, and am in the process of racking up distance. How would I know if they fail? | ||

M2ed, Let us know if they still cover it. I replaced mine on my own on my 2000 S3 a little over a year ago. Note that it's not a "recall" (see listing here: http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/3607.html?1152837200), it's just a service bulletin. | ||

I just had the rear isolator and "Y" front exhaust mount replaced for free on my 98' S3 at my dealer under both product bulletins. Take the above advice and call Harley first, get all the correct bulletin numbers and titles, that way when you go to the Buell dealer you're ready to present your issues. The dealer is paid by Harley for any of the work so I don't see why you should have any problems. If you do, contact Harley. | ||

Italialaw, Wow great news. Had your rear isolator actually failed, or did you have it replaced preventatively? How did you know it was time for a replacement? | ||

If a dealer wants to give me some new isolators for my 2000 M2, I'd take them, but there is no way in hell I'd let them work on my bike. |
