I can't get the damned cable out of the lever. What do I do?

Did you loosen the adjuster all the way? Adjuster is somewhere around the middle of the cable hidden under a rubber sleeve.

Yeah Its loose. Its the nut at the end of the cable I'm having trouble with. It appears to have some sort of collar on it.

I can't get it to slip out the slot like I could on other bikes. Am I just crazy?

Those have a plastic or teflon sleeve (for lubricity?) around the cable end if I remember right. I think that comes out with the cable and maybe that is caught? Maybe you can coax that that sleeve down with the tip of knife?

Yes, The steel cylindrical end but on the cable has a "plastic" sleeve half around. The cable passes that sleeve through an hole in the middle. The cylindrical end with the sleeve fits nicely in the hole in the handle. You certainly can remove the cable as usual but it seems to stick somewhat.
If the sleeve becomes distorted, you can modeling it back in form because you need it to get a snug fit. It will slip back in easier than you would think.
I think also that it is for lubrication. Because the small hole in the middle, you can`t replace it easily for a new one.

I finally compared the new one to the old one. THe old one was bent closed and it wouldn't fit out.
