Lorazepam, I've read that you've wrapped your pipes and was speaking with Doug @ Youngstown HD/Buell yesterday (about the sidestand recall) when he mentioned that he'd seen it and it didn't look too bad. How has that worked out? Has it helped in reducing the heat radiation on the bike's right side and keeping the frame cooler? I don't find the heat particularly distressing but it would be nice if it wasn't there. I also asked him about getting the taller windshield and he said that you had one and were about my height (5'-9" +/-). I'm not worried about being in still air but the stock shield creates a tremendous amount of noise at the base of my helmet (an AGV full coverage). Is yours a 4" taller unit and has the taller sheild reduced wind noise? Any recommendation are appreciated. Thanks. |

The wrap does help somewhat with the heat on the right side. I will post a picture of the wrap when I get a chance. My dan died while on a trip, and I am glad it was there. I have the Cee Bailey +2.5, and it works great. Way less air on the helmet and shoulders. I really like the folks at Ytown, they are a great bunch of people and dont mind having the Buell line, and Customers wearing gear. |

Here is a picture of the wrap:
Not difficult to do, and I like the look. It helps with the heat somewhat, but I only went to the bung for the Oxygen sensor. |

Lorazepam - Looks nice. I found it helps a lot with the heat. My wife said it made a huge difference for her as passenger. |

I ordered some heat wrap myself and will do mine this coming weekend. I was curious if any of you have had any problems with the headers after doing it? Did you do the double wrap as in down and back up or just a single layer? I also emailed American Sportbike about a RS scoop and they are backordered. Do you guys know how I contact the guy in Amsterdam about the one that looks stock? Thanks, Joel It may be a dry heat, but when it over 95 it's still pure hell. |

I double wrapped the whole header, there is enough on one roll to do it. Started with the front tube. |

I like the idea of containing the heat to the insides of the headers but I think wraping them may be a bad idea based on the article in the following link. http://www.centuryperformance.com/heatwraps.asp BC Steve |

Steve, that is the exact same article I ran accross. That is also the reason I asked the questions to see if anyone has had any problems. I've seen wrapped headers on cars that haven't had any problems so I'm just not sure. I do like the way that it looks, so I guess I'll try it. Joel |

Hmmmm wonder if the pipes they are talking about were stainless or just steel. The difference between the towels and a pipe, is the metal of the pipe is exposed to ambient air within 45 minutes of shutting down, even with wraps. Let me call the nascar shops and confirm the stories. Any of you guys got the numbers? |

I've considered ceramic coating my headers so they'll match my race muffler. Coated headers like nice too. |

Just got my wrap in today. Did you guys pull the pipes to do it or just wrap them on the bike? Did you wet the wrap prior to install? And how do these straps work? They pull right back out of the slides. Joel |

Wrapped while on the bike. Wet the wrap to keep dust down. Straps were tricky. I'm actually planning to replace them with hose type clamps. |
