I was wanting to have my headers black and paint my race exhaust black. Any advice on the easiest way to do this. Are there some coated headers I can buy? What paint should I use on the race exhaust? I dont want to wrap the headers either. Thanks for any advice you have guys. |

Rustoleum makes a high temp paint that works great on the mufflers. It is designed for barbeques and such like. One of two brothers have tried this paint on the headers themselves. Results seem to be mixed. Looked good on one or two bikes, but others found it flaking off here and there. Must be a prep problem. I decided to just polish my headers: low cost & nice looks. Of course, jet coating is vastly better, but cost a lost more and it is a lot more work to remove and reinstall the headers. |

I bought mine blacked. The previous owner had it bead blasted and then painted it himself with about 7 coats of some rattlecan high-temp black paint. Then he took it to a powdercoater and had it baked on and cured. It looks great and is very durable. Even with the dents I have put in it (Low version) it has held up great and looks like it came black.

the eastwood company also makes exhaust manifold paint that should work nicely. |

Hmmm wouldn't ceramic/jet coating change the tone of your pipe? Pipes resonate and a great deal of the sound is due to the materials used. I personally like titanium over carbon sound any day, and steel sounds nice too! Wonder if coating a metal pipe would change the tone, anybody experience a sound change? |

I had mine ceramic coated locally (in black) and didn't hear a change in the sound. |

Jet-Hot.com can coat your pipes black for you, and it will reduce the temperature of the header as well. I have my pipes done in silver. Cost about $200 when all said and done. |
