I just started to have a problem with my 2001 X1 and i can't figure out what is wrong. Every time i start my bike let it warm up and down shift to 1st gear i let the clutch out give it a little bit of gas the damn thing shuts off like the side stand is down but it is not. When i restart is its fine. I can pull out, but if i stop shut it off including the ignition, restart it and try to pull out it shuts off like the side stand it down, I hit the start button and pull out just fine. Whats the deal? |

Stop leaving your sidestand down when you pull away. You say you're not, but the bike thinks it's still down because the kickstand safety switch is starting to fail. Confirm this by bypassing the switch and tying the wires together to complete the circuit. |

What DJ said. Those switches suck. |

Yes. Mine is a jumper wire now and has been for 4 years. Safety stuff sucks. If I, as the owner, want to drive off with my stand down, I should be able to right? When I took my switch off, water dribbled out of it so that's probably what kills them. |

My S-1 was doing that crap afew years ago. I bypassed the safety switch thingy clipped to the clutch lever and it never did it again. |
