Bike is a '99 X1 w/31k on the odo. Previous owner kept a wonderful maintenance log book. Log shows brake pads being replaced, but not the rotor. How much play-if any, rotated CW to CCW, is within tolerance? Rotor runs true, is it possible to change out just the small "mounting discs" between the hub and disc or, is this just prolonging the problem? Any recommendations for replacement parts-current owner just commutes on it, no track days planned. |

These can get REAL scary loose, and not fall off. Try moving side to side to see if it will come off. Replaced my rotor with the newer 2000 style at 50,000 miles. About $100.00 @ Harley. So don't bother paying for a used one on Ebay. Oh yea, you will also need 6 new rotor mounting bolts @ $6.00 each. Use a torch to heat the locktight loose on the old mounting bolts. A little scary, but with care it hurts nothing. |
