Is it possible to mount a SS swing arm onto a S to get a longer wheel base? | ||

Anything is possible with a little cutting, grinding, welding and don't forget money. If Jesse can do it anybody can, right? Seriously tho, this has been asked before I do believe. I think the outcome was not cost effective to do it. Its not gonna be just a bolt on kinda thing, If in fact it can be done at all. I would say that no, mainly because the frame is different, belt, brake line and a number of other things I can't think of right now. | ||

Someone over in Europe (or there abouts) put a single sided swing arm on their S1. Can it be done to an XB? Yep, don't know all the details, but do know the answer is "yep". But how much longer are you talking about? The chain conversion swingarm put out by Hals PA shop takes the WB out to 55" or so, or at least it did a year or two ago when I was down there looking at one for someone. Plus this conversion keeps your oil where it currently is. | ||

People, I think he simply means mounting an XB12Ss swing arm onto a regular S model. And to answer your question, I believe it should bolt right up but I THINK that the swingarm isn't any different between the regular 2006 S and the Ss, the frame itself is where you get the added length. Could be wrong tho. | ||

The extra length was added in the swingarm. The frame uses different outside stampings for the added fuel capacity and has different steering head angle. Why change the wheel base? | ||

I'm guessing it might be possible if it's an 06 XB. I'm pretty sure I read some where that the 06 swing arms & frames mount differently than the older ones. Not sure but I'd definitely do my home work before diving in. | ||

Just a thought right now. I added a Drummer, K&N, Race ECM and air box mod, now in the city accelerating out of corners its really hard to keep the front end down. It is a lot of fun but when trying to school my buddies its difficult to hammer on it. Thought a couple of inches might help. | ||

A German company has already installed a SS long swingarm to a normal XB12S. Took some adjustments though, and a all new shock.  | ||

Damn that looks good. I did it the other way. Put a short s tail on my Ss. Still have the bene of bigger tank too. But that does look good hunkered down like that! TK ps. see profile for pic | ||

@ Tommy. I have also a XB12SS and made some changes, though not al radical as you did. I followed your progress and printed the lot, just in case I want do perform the same mods. @ U4euh. The rims was widened at 6,25 x17. Don't know what size tire they used. | ||

the swingarm doesnt bolt up to the frame it bolts up to the motor i dont think they would have changed that mount for anything, but i dont know forsure | ||

The exhaust is Sebring. The mirror is in their webshop, or you can see it also thru Hillbilly-Motors that sells them too. I have it on my bike, looks great, but does not give much rearview, and then only from 1 side. I don not know if it allowed but the company name is R&R Customizing. www.r-r-customizing.de I've already ordered severals times from them and all is OK. |
