Recently I modified a pair of Kuryakan ISO-grips to fit on my 2005 blast. These grips have a larger circumference than the stock grips. Now, I hear a little gear chatter, I don’t believe the clutch is fully disengaging, due to the larger grip. I attempted to adjust it, but that only made the clutch stiffer and even more difficult for me to pull than before (I have a small hand with two fingers that suffered fractures years ago). Has anyone out there replaced the grips? If so, what did you replace them with? Is there as way to make the clutch a little easier to pull in? Thanks for any input you may have.

First try to lube the clutch cable

Take a look at these products, they might help.

The grips I use are generic items from JC Whitney, foam type grips. Cost about 9 dollars.

About those traction grips. I've got a pair sitting in the pile of "Parts to Put On" but the instructions in the box are, shall we say, short. Are there any tricks? How long do I need to budget to put these puppies on?

Thanks for all your input. Did some more adjusting on the clutch (didn’t help) and then went over and checked out a friends Blast (I think it was a 2002 or 2003) to do a comparison. Like night and day – my clutch, when compared to the other bike, requires a lot more finger strength. Should not be that tough. Final analysis: Not convinced my grips are even a problem here. Will tear into the entire clutch assembly and see what is up.

Try lubing the clutch cable and the clutch lever pivor really well before you tear into anything. Sometimes it's that simple.

Just Wondering, will a pair of HD diamond plate style grips work with the Blast?
