Southern California to Utah...One straight shot...One twelve hour blast...Two bikes safely tucked away , glaring menacingly through the slider....I Love it when an Adventure comes together..!!!!  Somewhere in Cali...or Nevada...or Arizona...or was that Utah..??  Even the Gumby Ipod was stumped....  Bikes didn't care.....  Next day , just check this place out..!! This is the view from the "A" Grandstand at the end of "Turn 1".Most of the track is in this direction.(Looking South East)  And "TBEAR" was in his element..!!!  Panoramic View of track from the South end of track looking north......Far Left....  Moving Right...  Right again....  Way right...notice you can see the Great Salt Lake in the distance..!!!!  Weight testing a Pit Bike.... (this is the ONLY way to get around this place!!)  Think this is the end??  Yeah..!!!...finally bikes on the track!! | ||

 Al , Tbear and myself looking for a shortcut to Tooele.The first day we went south around the Mountains then up to the Track ,about 50 miles ,with long straight roads.This part of Utah is a series of parallel valleys divided by snowcapped mountains.Valleys are 10-15 miles wide and mountains rise 3-5 thousand feet higher.    One of the many Military Installations.  This is a famous Copper mine.They say this Blight can be seen from the Space Shuttle.   As we enter the Wilderness surrounding the mine you get an idea of the size of the tailings...    Nice mountain road , utilized by mountain bikers ....very little traffic.    Nice views looking east towards Lehi , the town we were staying in.   OOps!!!,the road turns to gravel for a little ways!...should keep the rif-raf away!!  Impromptu SACBORG salute..!  Actually thats a stream Al's next to....should have seen how well ULYs ford streams!!  Now were headed down the back side of the mountain west towards Tooele.The side of the road is all camping...so next time were here were going to camp in this valley and ride a few minutes to the track!!  It's fun shooting pictures while you ride!!  Base of the mountains looking back from whence we came...  Tbear looking out over the valley towards track.The Great Salt Lake is to the right.    Entrance to Miller Motorsports park.   Were lining up to ride on the track.  The Parade lap was both the best and the worst.....single file only , so everyone would hold back till they got a space and then blast around the corner...then stop till the space formed then blast around the next corner...kinda like an accordion pleat.Sometimes you were going good and sometimes you were parked....GREAT TRACK LAYOUT THOUGH!!!My favorite corner was 6...double apex ,I curbed it my second time through....the pics above were shot from the fence on that corner.Closest you can get to the riders. It was disappointing at first , Dora.....hot , dusty , lengthy walks and no shade.....but as we were there they were taking suggestions and improving daily.I'm hopeful that when done this WILL be one of the better tracks in the US.It certainly was from the Racers point of view! | ||
