I met him in Laconia, he said that he did steal the idea for the exhaust from Buell. That thing has gotta fly with that amount of carbon-fiber parts and the screaming eagle powerplant. Its even got cf wheels, about four grand a set he said. |

"The finished bike will cost you $75,000" A Lightning with a lot of custom parts and a big bore kit will cost a lot less than that! |

I like his clean sleek looks on his rides... One has to pay attention to all his hand controls/wires/cables and so on, He likes to keep them unseen...!Super Clean!!! |

I dig Russell, he doesn't (usually) chase the trends like so many of the "custom builders" I know that under frame exhausts have become stylish now that the patent has lapsed, but it's a really good idea (duh!!) I like the bike, for what it is, but I'd want the pegs further back. |

I with Hogs, I dig the way he keeps the bike clean and not cluttered. I like the bike and as far as custom builders go, his style matches my idea of what a bike should be. |

I say P.O.S for $75,000. That's f"in insane. And I'd say I like his stuff better than all the others, but that's just stupid. |

Too bad he hasn't figured out what rear sets are. Feet forward ain't for me. I do like his customs better than most though. |

Are you talking about other custom builders or other we'll take parts out of a catalog, put them together and charge you $20k above parts cost "custom" builders? Yes, Russel does actually make a clean BIKE not some rolling piece of jewelry. |

No reinvented twin shock Buells for me, you could buy a lot of carbon fiber for that price and have it a frame that handles. Sorry I'm gonna pass. |

Grimel, I like the real custom builders like : Roland Sands, Jesse Rooke, Chica, Billy Lane, and yes, Russel Mitchell etc.. I have no respect for "assemblers" that get a Fat Book, or J&P book and suddenly become custom bike builders overnight. The "assemblers" are legion, and the floors going to drop out on a lot of them very soon. I can't wait. I'm sick of 'em. (Message edited by diablobrian on June 30, 2006) |

not to toot my own horn, but i think my bike is what he was trying to build. basicly he was trying to build a custom buell. something that can be ridden, not a unrideable, heavy, chopper pig of a bike. i will sell mine for 50k |

I know where they're making 50 per day of much better bikes than that, for $65,000 less! Let's see, you could get an XBRR, a Ulysses, an XB12R and a CityX, and still have $11,000 left to spend on gas and hotels while using them on the road! The chopper world is just so bizarre. |

he had a buell until not too long ago it was for sale on ebay last year.....makes sense now....im just wondering what kind of doofass would fork out that kind of money for that thing...its nice and all...but 75 grand...thats insane....i could have a new buell, maybe a nice ducatti a new dirt bike and a pos truck ta haul em all around in for less than that.....if i was gonna spend that kind of moeny on a street fighter id go to that irish guy in san fran build me a buellmonster dude . 75 grand i think russel has gotten a little full of himself like orange county tossers. |

Russell built that bike for a Biker Build Off Episode which ended at Laconia. He beat out Billy Lane who built another hubless custom (his third). Billy had a little issue with a leaking tank weld while on the road to Laconia.

daiblobrian, When the floor falls I'll be laughing soooo hard. I (that'd be ME) can build a "custom" out of a catalog. I'd be willing to bet large $$ it would run circles around whatever the tosser on Ride ON was claiming the longer a bike the better it handles can dream up. And I could do it for a LOT less $$ and not go over a 95" TC. Did I mention the catalog builders tick me off? |

75 Large is a bit extreme for that bike. It is a Cool looking bike........but WAY too expensive! |
