Must Say, I was a bit skeptical about going to begin with. The destination was Speyer, one of the oldest Rhine cities. It became a significant religious center early on when the Diet of Speyer, in 1592, united the followers of Luther in a protest against the Church of Rome. Here are a few pictures of the cathedrals...
The second picture is of the Imperial Cathedral, the greatest building of its time. Consecrated early in the 11th century, is the largest Romanesque edifice in Germany. The church contains the royal tombs of four emperors, three empresses, and four German kings,as well as a row of bishops' tombs. But gosh did my luck change quickly! My wife mentioned going to the technology museum, which she described as a museum outlining the inventions of technology... which doesn't sound very interesting at all. But since I spend countless hours in the garage with the bike, I decided I owe it to her to at least go somewhere she is interested in with her. But wow, I knew I was in for a treat when I spotted this...
and sure enough I was. The Technik-Museum is housed in a former 1913 aircraft hangar. Here you can view a vast array of airplanes, locomotives, vintage automobiles, fire engines, and even automatic musical instruments. Even has a 20-ton U-boat once used to terrorize the Allied shipping in the Atlantic ( which you can actually walk through, along with most other displays ).
By hour 2 of photographing everything... and I mean everything, my wife was beginning to get impatient; so I didn't get to photograph everything outside, but I still got the main attractions. The coming photo's are what you see when you are walking towards the entrance to the attraction from the parking lot.
This following were in the main lobby, where you purchase tickets to view the museum or for the IMAX.
1940 V-12 Rolls Royce Engine
The following pictures are the views from (1) the entrance, (2,3,4) views from the end of each on of the isles.
I will be updating for maybe the next 40-45 minutes. After that I will add more pictures tomorrow. I took 291 pictures with my 7Megapixel camera, until the 1GB card filled up.If you would like to see specific photo's or maybe just all of them in better detail just shoot me a PM. |

Cagiva Elephant Marathon 1995 The design of this model is based on the work-prototypes of Cagiva, and it was intended to adapt the style of their standard models. Participated in the 2002 Dakar with this bike... by private pilots. |

Nice stuff! I wanted (and nearly bought) an old Ducati Elefant a few years ago. Sounded great, but the owner wanted more than I was prepared to pay. |

Blake - thanks... but it's Brine, as in Kyle Brine. Ha, no offense taken as I get it all the time. I have some info on almost all the bikes pictured, so if anyone wants info just ask.

And I was feeling compelled while I was there to take a picture for Dora as she was recovering... This is for you -
I figured with the "hot chicks on buells" thread maybe you needed some pics for you to look at. He doesn't have the softest skin... but he has the best skin I've ever seen. Thought I'd get one from the back for you... so you can scope out the assets. |

Since there was a discussion on here before about air intakes, I've been paying alot of attention to them lately. Here is a good example. |

There was everything from multiple country space suits and chairs... to world war pieces, including this "artifact" from a Nazi aircraft, including their authenic jackets and gear, the originals.
