I can usually only ride my XB12S for about 120 miles and the longest was 200 miles before my back starts to really hurt. I`m having a great time but wish i could ride all day or go on long trips. Whats the longest time you`ve all spent in the saddle of your Lightning? |

I've done about 400 in a day. I am 5'11 and 150lbs soaking wet, running the stock seat and haven't had a problem yet. You running the stock seat? Freeway, backroads, straightaways? Stock handlebars |

Everything is stock right now. I`m sure a better seat would help alittle. I do a mix of highway and back roads. I think i might look into a XB12X Ulysses. I`d love to be able to take a couple of weeks off of work and ride cross country, but i don`t think its possible on my lighting. |

Two hours is no problem for me on my Ss with the stock seat, maybe it is a better seat? I'm 5'10/220. Throttle hand gets sore though. Went from Marin to Auburn and back yesterday. Plan to ride to LA and San Diego (and check out American Sport Bike) next week on vacation. Bought traction grips yesterday to install first and will install gel grips if those don't help. |

FT. Lauderdale to north Orlando and back in the same day on the Firebolt. Thats about the longest ride to date on the Buell in one day. Done better than that on cruiser style bikes tho. |

I limit myself to 800 miles a day when on long trips. This is on my S2 with a corbin butt breaker seat. I'm going to try a gel seat this August when I head out for this summer's trip to New England. |

Back in North craphole Dakota my nearest dealer (IN the United States) was 300 miles ONE way. I did that trip 3 times before I decided meh f**kit I'm going to Canadia. 150 miles one way to winnipeg. So 600 miles in a day is my longest. |

I've done just over 400 miles in a day on my XB12Ss. I'm 6'1" 215. It wasn't too bad but I was beat at the end of the day! |

Orlando to Fla. Panhandle, camped out at the State Park on the beach up there one nite and back to just outside Gainesville and then back to Orlando. 800 to 900 miles over 3 days on stock seat. Hope I can do it soon again on the new Select seat. 2003 XB9S. Now on my Corbin 1989 ZX7 I did Brainerd, MN to outside Chicago, Chicago to Chatanooga and Chatanooga to Tampa in 3 days. Also rode to Mosport, in Ontario before Brainerd and rode to the US GRAND Prix @ Laguna Seca in 1993 from Florida, plus other fun cross-country/state trips with and without my minature poodle, CHUCK, R.I.P. (of natural causes and old age), in my tankbag. (Message edited by CURTYD on June 25, 2006) |

Jpdog - You've given me an excuse to boast. Thursday a week ago, I did my longest day, which was 746 miles. The longest prior to that was a little less than 600, which was a trip to Daytona in March. The bike makes a huge difference. Both of the trips mentioned above were on a Ulysses. Before that I owned a Cyclone, and my longest was 300 miles, which was about the limit I could do on that bike. I also own a Blast, and wouldn't want to do more than 250 on it. I think physical condition makes a big difference to. Whatever muscles it takes to sit on a bike seem to be getting stronger the more I ride. I think the 750 mile day would have killed me back in March. I also find that getting off the bike at gas stops and hanging out for a while makes a huge difference. I used to resist this as it slows down the trips. But it's the difference between a trip thats fun and one thats not, so it seems stupid rush. |

770 miles on the XB9R, Denver to Sturgis and back in 14 hours on the stock seat (strictly a t-shirt run). 1008 miles on the Sporty in less than 24 hours last year, starting from around Calgary, AB ending in Denver, CO. That was a looong haul! |

I bought my bike in Austin texas and drove close to 1300 miles back to Tampa bay... Three days of riding, I had some issues or I think I could have done it in two.. Hindsight being 20/20 I should of took more time and stopped at the sights a bit more... Sucks Riding alone after a few days you just want to get home.. |

i stick to 800mi days, with 2700mi being my longest overall ride (DC to Ely, MN and back with some fishing inbetween). Stock XB9S + race kit, and no real complaints... But i'm still relatively young and invincible. bring your earplugs though! |

I rode about 200 miles today just for the heck of it on the lighting. Would have gone more but the rain cut me a short. Longest trip on the lightning has been about 500 miles in a day. On my SV, my longest was about 650. Memorial Day weekend, my wife and I rode 1100 miles on our Cruiser over the 3 day span. I have/had corbin's on all of my bikes, and for me, when I buy a new bike I normally order the seat for it right away. |

1,202 miles in one day, about 21 hours overall, 2000 Cyclone. 400 the next day. Corbin seat essential. Felt good, age 59 at the time. |

I think Gpurdue beat me by an hour or so. I did the trip from Fargo, North Dakota to Denver, Colorado non-stop. Think that was about 1,000 miles. Did the return trip as well. That was on my Honda CX-500 Deluxe. |

1300 miles in 3 days on my XB9S, with stock seat. Mostly two lane roads, maybe 200 miles or so of interstate. I ordered the Streetfighter seat immediately upon my return home. Bill |

My longest was when I got my Iron Butt Saddle Sore (1000 miles in 24 hours) and Bun Burner (1500 36 hours) last year. This was on my Ultra. We went from KC to Canada and back to Watertown SD spent the night (1064 miles) and back to KC the next day (just shy of 1600 miles)My longest so far on a Buell are a couple of 600 milers. Very comfortable to go that far. Mike Kneebone the Iron Butt Founder has bought an Uly and already done a Saddle Sore on his. |

Jpdog Going to "Riding the Ridge" BRAG event in Boone, NC I left Inwood, WV at 9AM traveled Skyline Drive / Blue Ridge Parkway then at Roanoke, VA on I-81 to Bristol, TN at 10:30PM back tracked to VA Rt 58 (info from a local). Rt 58 is beautiful, but it doesn't go to Boone. Rode the "Boonedocks". At 2:30AM got the correct directions to Boone. Got to the hotel at 4:30AM. My Buell is a 2003 XB9SL. How many miles? Don't know; but my backside only knew it was way to long on a seat with no padding. First day of the event, Monkey-buttitis to the Max. I wouldn't trade on minute of that ride for anything though--My First BRAG event and it was Great. |

~550 miles on my XB9R coming back from Portland on the Carving the Northeast trip a few years ago. 3109 miles in 9 days total that trip...man, what a great time that was. Wish I could find the time to do it again. |

I flew out to Appleton Wisconsin to pick up my 12R, and rode it straight back to Connecticut, about 1100 miles in a little over 24 hours. I did stop for a few hours of sleep somewhere in Indiana. I have done a couple of documented Saddlesores on prior bikes, but not yet on the Firebolt. |

I put about 1000kms on my bike this weekend, and I have the Buell Street Fighter seat which I think makes a difference since my stock seat is really hard. The top of my legs were a lil sore when I got home, but not bad. the worst part was the beating I took from the Wind on the highway for 3+hrs each way at 120kms+. |
