Just picked up some used parts to convert my 2000 M2 to the 2001 style shifter. Here is what I have: http://users.adelphia.net/~jackerbes//Buell/shifter3.jpg And here is what the parts book shows for that: http://users.adelphia.net/~jackerbes//Buell/shifter2.jpg Looks like I need the #45 shift lever mounting bushing instead of the one I have now. The bolt is the right length and everything else looks to be right. Also, the lever I have is about 7" long from the pivot point to the rubber boot on the shifter, that will bring the shifter about 3/4" closer to the foot rest. I'm wondering if the lever I have is longer than the one shown in the parts book and I have the wrong shifting lever too. Before I go off and bother Daves, can someone tell me if I may not have the right parts and/or if all I need is the different bushing? Thanks for any help. Jack |

Thanks Matty. I'm not sure if that is going to work for me, I don't really want the shifter any closer to my foot. Jack |

S2pengy, Consider yourself first in line to be the next owner on that if it does not work for me. I bought the items seen in the photo for $50 shipped and will set them free for that if they don't work out. I'm going to mount it sometime in the next few days and see how the foot/shifter relationship feels. For those that have an X1 or M2 with this shifter, I'm assuming that the small bushing in the photo is pulled up against the primary cover by the bolt and that's it? I'm still a little put off by the difference in appearance between the parts manual and the parts in hand, the mounting bushing is different and the shifter itself looks slightly different and shorter in the parts book. Hey Daves! Are you there? Jack |

You used to be able to just get the shorter S1,S3 & M2 lever.... I might even have one if you want to try it... Let me know... |

Thanks, Todd. Yeah, if there is a shorter lever (something like 6" or even less from the pivot to the rubber boot) I'd like to try that. I usually wear a fairly heavy shoe or boot and this longer lever is probably not going to work well. If you want to send that to me I'll be glad to pay for the shipping. If it works I'll send you the longer one for it or even buy it from you, which ever you prefer. Email me at jacker at midmaine dot com and we can work out the details. Jack |

Todd, The shifter is not going to work for me. You can see it here: http://users.adelphia.net/~jackerbes//Buell/shifter8.jpg It is too long. A second issue is that the mounting bushing/spacer does not bring it far enough out from the primary case so if you have a part like that for the other lever I'd like that too. The bolt I have is the right length (per the parts book) so I need a spacer that will bring the lever out from the case about 1-1/4" to put it where the other is. So of the stuff I have in the first photo I posted, the lever and the mount/bushing it is on are up for grabs to you if they'll work for you. I'll get what I can that will work and order up the rest of the parts. Jack |

I gotta say, I went with the Billet jobs that Col Time sells on Ebay for my M2 and I could not be happier- they take a while to dail in because every part is adjustable- but I've used them for a year w/ no problems at all...cheaper than OEM, too... |

JackBQ: Do you have the parts numbers for the S1 style shifter and peg mount you are using as shown in the picture? (not the other shift lever you were trying). http://users.adelphia.net/~jackerbes//Buell/shifter8.jpg |

Erik, I don't. I bought some used shifter parts and got that longer shifter but never figured out exactly which Buell it was for. I swapped it with another BadWebber for the shorter one that was right (its not in that photo). But, for what I wound up with, the drawings and parts numbers in my parts book (for the 2001 M2, which used the better shifter) were right. I got a couple of the smaller pieces and screws needed from DaveS. Maybe if you send DaveS a link to that photo he can tell you the numbers. Jack |

Thanks Jack. I like the older S1 shifter (as shown in pic) set up since the shifter pivots on the footpeg mount you can move it all just about anywhere you want on the bike. Makes things (for me) easier. |
