decide to stop at jimmy johns on my way home from work, i can fit the subs in my jacket. Get my food, start the bike, put in first, clutch comes out bike dies. Start bike again let clutch out it dies
again. Do this 5 or 6 times, i can feel the eyes of everyone in the surrounding strip mall staring at me and wondering what kind of dumf&*k is this.As i curse Buell and Harley, i look at the ground and my kickstands down. Well at least i know that safety feature is working great. Ride home with my sandwiches in my jacket and my tail between my legs.Just something for all of you to snicker at.

I did the same thing last year, even posted about it here, got snickered at...

I've always ridden Japanese bikes where the sidestand interlock won't allow the engine to start or run with the sidestand down unless the transmission's in neutral. Put it into gear, the engine quits right now! and you know exactly what the problem is. I find the Buell system a bit different (can't shut the bike off by lowering the sidestand, either).

One question, though--do you really eat that stuff?

I did the same thing when I took the MSF course. Everybody finished the drill and is staring at me while I sit at the start cussing the bike. Finally, an instructor got close enough for me to hear that I was being stupid. And that is how I learned to operate a kickstand.
