Ugh, the f'ing driveway just bit me again. Dropped it for the second time on a driveway. I don't understand why driveways have to be uneven and on hills. I have been trying to be nice to the neighbors by taking it out to the sidewalk to let it warm up, but that's where it slants the most. My house is on the side of a hill AND the driveway slopes down too. Had to park it diagonally to get it to stay while it was warming up. Hopped on and tried to manuever it and the slant was too much for me and I couldn't hold it up. Screw the neighbors from now on. I am starting it right in front of the house where it's flat from now on. If they have a problem, they can pay for my parts to fix it. |

Buells are very quiet in stock form anyways, your car is probably as noisey as your bike. |

Save yourself first and then consider the neighbors! The way I figure it, all my years of beating on 4x4's, countless dirt and street bikes and now my ole S1 just gives the old blue hairs in their house coats something to talk about all day! |

Bake, I have a drummer...it's far from quiet. not overly loud at idle, but it still rattles the windows. |

My driveway is on a slope too. I always start it with the bike pointed uphill. Then I get on it and back it down using front brake to control speed. Too easy to tip over trying to maneuver on a slope. |

Shea - I try to always stand on the side opposite of the kickstand and I push it with the kickstand down. Don't feel bad, we've all done it. |

Why don't you just sit on the bike, start it, put your helmet+gloves on while seated then go? |

Destroy, I was actually trying to maneuver out of the driveway and spilled it onto the street, so I was already on the bike....wait, do you mean so that I don't need to put it into that odd direction? Well, too late now, I am just going to start it at the garage from now on anyway. |

Xb, My driveway is combined with my neighbor's. I live in a town home and share a driveway and our garage and houses are connected. This is why I was trying to be nice, but I am over being nice. Besides, they always have parties and park my vehicles in due to the shared driveway, so this will be my pay back. |

yea and they have been laughing at you thru the window when you drop it. I laid mine down at a Subway the other day. Did not have the stand all the way down. It was sure easy to pick back up ! |

Thanks Dennis. lol My wife and I are having a home built as we speak. Not quite out in the country, but the noise won't be a problem. I really want to set up a ventilation system for my cars and bike though. Perhaps route a hose out the large garage door for exhaust. The tubes deaden noise quite nicely too. I have a new Trailblazer SS (400hp/400ft-lbs of torque) that I will be working on alot too. First on my list is an exhaust, which I will be doing tomorrow. It won't be as loud as the bike, but I'll still rattle some windows with it. |

If the driveway is wide enough, I wonder if you could regrade a section to make it more bike friendly without hindering your car's entrance/departure or drainage? |

its my recommendation that warming up the bike on the side stand is a no-no. I've had the pivot bolt shear off. Now I sit on the bike when I warm it up or I leave it on the wheel stand. And my neighbors can bite me as far as noise is concerned. I don't complain when their gardeners break my sprinkler heads! |
